While visiting my parents this weekend I helped my dad hook up his new home theater system. He replaced his Denon 3803 receiver with a newer model that includes HDMI. I brought back the Denon just to see if I could sell it for some cash (my AR15 fund ).

It sold for like $1,200 back around 2003-2004 when he bought it. As technology advances, the push for HDMI connections has pretty much eliminated the "older" models. This still has outstanding sound and 7.1 capabilities. Here's crutchfield's page info: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xdYaODoYT6j/p_033AVR3803/Denon-AVR-3803-Black.html

Anyone interested? I could do $200 shipped or $175 with local pickup.

EDIT: Price drop

Hahaha, too funny you posted this. I just replaced my Denon because of the lack of HDMI. Still a fine receiver and with a pair of nice Klipsch bookshelf speakers, my former rears in a 5.1, it has been moved to garage where dust will probably rendered it a short remainder of its life.

BTW, that price for the old one seems ridiculously high. I know it is a great amp, but you can buy new, even Denon, with 5.1/7.1, DLNA, HMDI, etc for at or near the same price.

Good to know. Audio and its equipment isn't my speciality. I'm only going by the few I could find listed online. Let's say $175 local and $200 shipped.

It is crazy how inexpensive a/v components are now. Like your father I dished out a crap ton of money for all of my gear after I had to replace it back in 2001 (house fire). After getting some tax money back I wanted to finally upgrade/replace and I was astonished at the technology vs. price nowadays. Good luck selling it!
