Yes its lacewood. Why??
Because lacewood can cause severe allergenic reations to some people and is known to be toxic to the point to where it can cause poison ivy-like reactions.

Don't know if storing your sticks with it would affect them or not, but just thought you should know.

And yes, solid wood fronts that are completely sealed by multiple coats of a water based acrylic finish. :)

I've been really lucky thus far as I don't seem to react to any of the exotic woods I've worked with. The sawdust is the issue with them, and a lot of folks can't even be around spanish cedar dust. Geez, I'm nearly as orange as an oompa-loompa some days out of the shop covered in the stuff. :D

Those look great!

I can't decide whether to stay true to the spanish cedar, or go with the curly maple fronts when I'm ready. Decisions, decisions ... :thinkidea
