If you're interested in what the drawer set up will look like, check out my thread:

http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showthread.php?t=57934

And luckily enough, Forrest told me the Edgestar 28 bottle is an exact match for the drawers so if you have the same problems I've had, you can always get an Edgestar and still keep the drawers (I just ordered mine today, on sale for $190, free shipping at compact appliance).

Good luck with your set up, man, make sure you throw up some pictures when it's done!

PS - Forrest is the man.
Many thanks!
Yeah, I just ordered a shelf and 2 drawers from Forrest.
I kinda put him through the ringer with all my indecisiveness, lol.
I had a easier time picking out a new car than buying drawers
Thanks for the heads up on them fitting the Edgestar.
I'll be sure to post a thread once everything starts coming in.
Thanks again...

I know this is pretty much resolved(with ordering the new unit and all), but you listed an ETC, cant you just use that on your current Frigidaire to reduce freezing on your coils ? , i have heard numerous success stories with people using an ETC and enough beads(to offset the RH) for a compressor type model and the ETC keeping the unit from getting to cold which in turn should also help maintain RH.

I just mention this because it was something I have been looking into because my area in the summer months get so hot that I have found the wineador does not efficiently cool enough when the ambient temp outside the unit is, say 20 degrees over your desired temperature (inside the unit). Also because I have had several wineadors which due to the hot weather would not stop condensing inside the unit playing havoc with the RH. (which is why currently for the winter months I have switched back to coolidors)

Not trying to start a which is better argument, sorry if it sounds that way. Just seeing if I can add more info or get more info, or maybe if you get it working the way you want you can use it for overflow after you fill up your wineador

Hey Hiko,
I thought about using the ETC on the Frigidaire but worry that it would burn up the compressor.
At least I read somewhere that it would...

Another thing I worry about is the huge swings in RH. My RH went from 70 to 44 in a matter of an hr or so. When I turned it off, the RH jumped up to 76 and stayed there.

Going from low to medium case to fragil can't be to good for the sticks, IMO.

All 3 of my vinos are in a stable environment (basement) and have not been turned on in over 3 years. Except for the first summer I owned one. They also never fluctuate more then 2 pts Rh all year (66 Rh in summer and 69 Degs, 68RH in winter and 64 Degs). If I were you I may even of kept that unit because it sounds like you own a house with a basement. Why do I then keep vinos and not regular humis? Because if we have a summer that hits 100s they will be back on for when the basement hits 70 plus degs.......

Yeah, I'm keeping the Frigidaire one. I just plan to keep it in the basement turned off.

I move every couple of years, so my next place may not have a basement so thats another reason I went with getting a thermoelectric model.

Got the NewAir in today. Cleaned it with baking soda, distilled water, and distilled vinegar a few times.

Threw in some cedar boxes, some baking soda and Equiscat. I'll let it run for a about a week before I throw any sticks in there.

:dunno::dunno::dunno:Aren't the compressor models designed to draw out the humidity over the thermo-electric? Hence the drain pan on most refrigerators. That's what they are frost free?:dunno:

Soooooo .... any updates brother!

I read this thread and was bit shocked at people who have had issues with their NewAirs. I myself and many other people I know have had nothing but good luck with them.

Looks like you made the right decision on this bad boy and I hope it's coming together nicely.
