Why is it that Haney can teach but he can't go on Tour with the best of the Seniors...kinda puzzles me that he can teach others but he can't go out and show it on the course himself. I never see him hitting a ball or talking about his handicap...it's not known what it is...very strange.
This is actually very common in sports. Many of the top coaches/managers never were successful at the highest levels of their sport. I would imagine Haney is a decent golfer but not good enough to be a pro. Many believe that the best at their sports are incapable of being good coaches because everything comes "naturally" and the less talented players become more cerebral and can better break down the game and teach/coach.

Back when I was rodeoing professionally, I always took lessons and I practiced every single day, even Christmas, for 4 to 5 hours per day. Sometimes it takes an extra set of eyes from an expert to see what you are doing wrong or how you can improve.
I am sure Hank is an incredible golfer, but he does not have the same skill set as Phil or Rory. It does not mean he does not know the proper method or technic. His skill is getting them to understand how to perform it. After all, no one can really perform like Phil or Rory when they are playing thier best. Some people were meant to teach, some were meant to perform.
