Anyone have an info on the new Davidoff Lounge that is opening up in/near Chicago? I am visiting the Chicago area in the near future and was wondering if it something worth going to. Obviously it isn't open yet, but just cuirous.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

The store has been open for over a year. I believe he just got his deal done with Davidoff to name the lounge a "Davidoff Lounge". It's a nice B and M, but it's no Casa de Montecristo. The 2 stores that we are talking about are not that far apart, so it would be easy for you to see them both. Let us know when you're here and we'll try to catch up with you.

Is he referring to "The Humidor" in Downers Grove, IL?

I believe it has the Davidoff lounge but I only heard this second hand from a friend... haven't been there due to what Rich mentioned with Casa De Montecristo... that's my normal stop. I was actually considering going there tomorrow due to a meeting in the general area.

That's the one. The article that had the info on the Davidoff lounge called it the Humidor of Westmont.

I hear that the Casa is amazing. I've just not seen/heard of a Davidoff lounge and weren't sure if they were comparable.

If only I'd known! I definitely would have booked it a couple of weeks later. But alas, I was trying to be responsible and book early.

The same owner owns both of those Humidor locations. In either case, the stores have been open for some time and I think the lounge is just being branded as a "Davidoff Lounge". Jdog, let us know what you think. I have only been to the location in Westmont, so I would be interested to hear what the Downers Grove location is like.

The Davidoff Lounge in the Westmont location is nice, but it is a members only lounge, much like the basement lounge at Casa de Monte. It is still nice but NOT nearly the caliber of Casa's. I have only been in the lounge at Humidor, didn't ask if I could stay in there. The "free" lounge at the Humidor is nice. Large, spacious. Lets put it this way, the members only lounge at Casa is nicer, and the free lounge at Humidor is nicer.

The Humidor in downtown Downers Grove is right across from the train station. Its a small shop and the lounge is in the back of the store. Last time I was there, about 5 months ago, it was not a members only lounge.

With that being said, Casa and Humidor in Westmont are not far from each other. Can't go wrong with either one, but I'd lean strongly towards Casa.

I have been to both locations. They are nice shops, with fairly good selections. I do think their prices are a little high, but it is Chicago. If I am not mistaken, The Humidor in Downers Grove is an Ashton lounge.

Also, 8to8 is close as well, which is owned by Sam/Mike at CdM. They had remodeled the shop last year. I would lean towards it over either Humidor, but you can't go wrong with either Humidor.
