Hey guys. Ordered one of these yesterday. I have a couple questions for you. I am really interested in ordering drawers from Forrest. They look awesome. My stash consists of mostly all singles, and that is what I usually buy. I would like to start buying a few boxes tho. So, how many cigars do the double drawers hold in each? And how many shelves should I get if I would want to store some boxes? Basically, what is your configuration? I hope I was somewhat clear here, haha. I am at work with 90 things going on, and had to get this off my brain. Any help or suggestions always appreciated. Thanks gents.

Only get one shelf to place slightly above the bottom. Below that you can place either a container of beads or a 1lb sock of beads and a 10 ct box. Then I would get all double drawers after that. Singles drawers are a waist unless your going to get one to place all your 20 dollar and over sticks. That's the only reason I still even have singles drawers. Doubles will hold diff amounts depending on the size cigar that is in each.

depending on size of the cigars, double drawers should hold 50+ cigars easily. I would recommend 4 double drawers and 1 shelf if you have mostly singles, more than one shelf is kind of pointless because you won't be able to play tetris as well with the boxes if the second shelf is in there.

Can take a pic of mine (3 doubles, 2 shelves) tomorrow and post for ya. That setup seems to work well enough for me.

I can safely go three sticks deep in my drawers (nyuk!), so I'd wager that with an assortment of singles in there, we're talking about 60-70 sticks per drawer, of variable sizes. If all I smoked was robos, I could probably get damn close to 100 in there, I'd bet.

I owned a thermoelectric wineador previously with external temp control and active Cigar Oasis system installed myself on the bottom with a CPU fan on top facing down. During hot days the wineador ran a lot and sucked up a good amount of RH which cause the Cigar Oasis to run a lot. During the winter dry months the unit never turned on, so the Oasis was hardly used. I also used half pound 65% beads on middle and top shelf as a passive RH too.

I was never for leaving the cigars exposed to air before getting the wine cooler so I always stored mine in all cedar cabinet boxes (not dress boxes) as much as possible to help with RH bounce and to keep the wrapper in better shape. I believed the cigars would age better versus being over exposed to air. That is just my oponion thought would throw it out there. Hope I did not confuse things, good luck.

I had a 28 bottle cooler with 2 shelves and 3 drawers, but I had around 8 boxes so needed the extra open space. I would agree with Justin, if you're sticking to mainly singles just go with all drawers. I would say to stay away from active humidification and go with the beads. Super easy to use and rarely need watered.

Awesome, thanks for the input guys. Im thinking of going with just one shelf, like some of you have said. Also, Im thinking of going with the HCM beads. I have them in a small humidor right now, and seem to be ok. Any of you guys use the HCM in your wine fridge?

I agree with everyone above; I actually was thinking about having a singles drawer and Forrest talked me out of it. I don't regret it at all. I average about 75 sticks per drawer.

I have 4 double drawers and 2 shelves with 1.5# of beads. I only have a couple of boxes. I also used a cedar tray which I put lanceros & nubs in.

I'm finding that when the cooler runs it does push my Rh down quite a bit, and I'm considering putting the fridge in the basement where it would not run as often.

I agree with Jfire about getting double drawers exclusively with one shelf at the bottom. If there is any chance to pick up another at a good price, have one stocked with singles in double drawers and the other with two shelves for your boxes. Two lbs of beads in each and your golden. Has worked great for me.

I have 3 of Forrest's large cedar trays in my Edgestar. It'll easily fit 150-200 singles and I have room for at least 8 boxes (can probably fit more once I rearrange things)

So... Here's my pics. Three deep in the tray at variable ring gauges, with about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of clearance from the top of the drawer.

I use a Padron 85th box with the lid removed to hold beads on the top and bottom.

I also have a large Torano Tubos box (trays removed) down on the bottom shelf that use to quarantine new acquisitions.

Do any of you guys with edgestars that leave it running not have humidity problems? If I'm running my unit, the RH drops to about 55ish. Luckily I haven't had to run it much but I was wondering if anyone else was having similar issues and how to solve it?

I've got 2 pounds of 65% HF beads and about eight 65% boveda packs spread throughout.

When the fridge A/C is running to cool down the fridge, the Rh does go down. But when the temp stabilizes so should the Rh. I found when it was really hot in my house, the A/C unit had to run a lot more and the Rh would drop a lot more. But if temp was more consistent, there were no problems.

well it looks like you're about set.... I will add I absolutely love the doubles from Forrest. I went w/ 4 & have 1 shelf at the top for boxes. The drawers are massive and hold a good amount of cigars. I believe his drawers now are slightly larger. After I received mine I gave him a few pointers along w/ a complaint and he made some adjustments to them to create a little more space. Probably only equates to another row or two of cigars but still, that's more valuable space you now have.

I've used KL the past year I've had this setup but w/o media it holds a decent rH. So recently I've switched to HF beads hoping to provide a little more stability and less tinkering. I use some empty coffins & also had a friend build a small plexi tray to hold some beads on the bottom. I don't have a current pic, this is about a year old. Currently I have the lowest drawer at the bottom. there's a big enough gap to store coffins down there and the tray w/ beads while opening up the shelf and providing a decent amount of space for boxes.
