I recently picked up an additional wine cooler (brining the total to 3) and finally decided that I would get shelves made for it. Problem is I still have stuff coming in and need the space. I went to my local shop and looked for the most generic sized box that I could use and came up with 4, 25 count Cain boxes that I could use. After using waterproof glue to glue the boxes together side by side I drilled holes for airflow and placed the "shelf" on the pull out shelf that came with the wine cooler. After sitting for a week to acclimate the wood, the "shelf" now holds about a hundred sticks and I might even keep it as the large bottom shelf after I have the others made. The cost of the shelf was nothing and required no woodworking skill at all.

wow man, thats an awesome idea. I was looking for shelves or trays, but I can't afford to buy them right now...I could do this.

By the way, did you sand them? They are made of spanish cedar, and if you sand them, you could get that awesome smell. Caution, tho, remember the spanish cedar dust is dangerous (or so i've heard).

I didn't sand them because I have cedar shelf dividers in my wineador, and I needed a temporary shelf. If I end up keeping the shelf I will clean it up.
