Funny that they put Republica Dominicana right on the bands. Who is dumb enough to buy something like that?

I love that this is how the US gov't is spending our tax dollars. You can't legally buy genuine Cubans and they sure as hell don't want you buy counterfeit ones either.

Ah, so it's General Cigar who is waging this battle it seems. No wonder.

After all, they stole the Cohiba name fair and square :)

It's awesome that the Dominican cohiba brand that was created to mimic the original Havana brand and quality was behind the secure of "Cuban-looking" cigars that claim to be Dominican.

Had a buddy of mine come back from his honeymoon in the DR. He brought back a bundle of opus x churchills he bought on the beach. They were bad fakes but he only paid $100 for a bundle of 25 useless cigars

Probably coordinated behind the scenes to create more of a demand for Dominican Cohibas.

Look everybody, they are good enough to fake. Now how much would you pay for a "real" dominican Cohiba.

LOL at the cuban look with Dominican words. Probably created by real Havana lovers who don't want to dupe people who know, only the ignorant masses.

I actually saw these at a smoke shop in town about a year ago and picked one up to try. It cost me a whopping $1.50 and tasted like a really cheap cigar. Not a disgusting fake CC filled with scrap n' crap, but just a cheap ass cigar. I don't know why somebody would hassle making counterfeits just to sell them for $1.50.

What I find strange is that General Cigars is so concerned about protecting people from fake Cuban Cohiba's that actually say made in DR on the cigar. They are not counterfeiting the General Cigar Cohiba brand logo - they are faking the Cuban one and obviously so badly that buyers of neither brand would be fooled.
Dan Carr, president of General Cigar said, “Protecting cigar consumers from counterfeiters and maintaining the integrity of our products is a top priority for the company."

Aside from it being a cigar it doesn't look anything like any of their products.

Wouldn't they be better served by letting people smoke the bad copies, so they think, if that's the best Cuba can do I'd rather stick with the General brand of Cohiba's?

And the couple B&M/Lounges he does allow in Down town Disney don't have the best selection either! :rolling:
Those had to be one of the biggest let downs of my trip there last summer. Didn't even end up buying a single cigar, which is rare for me to leave without at least 1.

I've seen these fakes in Downtown Disney in a cigar booth all the time when it was there and wondered how they got away with it.
I've had people see REAL Cohibas and thought they were fake because they didn't have a red dot and black band. The vast majority of people are clueless.
