So I bought a 70qt Coleman xtreme cooler. A good friend of mine is buying my small 100 count desktop humi off me for his new found love of cigars.

So i'm looking at either getting heartfelt or hci beads. Both cost about the same and I've never heard bad about either. Ill just have to get some old cigar boxes or some Spanish cedar sheets and put her all together. Are open tupperware containers ok to use as make shift trays or should it really be all cedar? I've read through allot of the old threads and didn't see that asked. I'm not planning on standing it on its side so it'll be bottom down if that makes a difference.

The only reason that people use cedar is to help maintain RH. Tupperware is fine but the cedar will really help keep the RH especially when it's open a while as you dig out that one gem from the bottom of the cooler.

yup, cedar takes up a little more room, but acts as a sponge itself.

recommend slide lid boxes: lowest profile, no weird jutting architecture. actually, the recent thread on just this thought!

gotta use tupperware, no big, just don't hang out with the fridge door open, y'know?

Ya i'm gonna try to get some boxes. I'll hit up the local smoke junctions and stuff. I saw the posts with the nub boxes put together and really liked that idea. Tupperware was more of a in a pinch type deal.

Yeah, you could do tupperware while you hunt down cedar... just make sure it is CLEAN (ie, no leftover fish smell from the tup's last job in the freezer)

Take it from me, you will probably want to hold on to that desktop...lol

No matter how empty the cooler is initially, it'll be full before you know it and you'll be looking at wineadors. Then once that is full, you'll fill the cooler back up. Then you'll be looking at cabinets.

Seen it too many times to count on here...(and am a living example of it...)

Haha I considered keeping the desktop but it was a much easier sell to the wife that I was using the money I got from the desktop to setup the cooler. women just don't understand.

Great thread to see...just bought a cooler yesterday and got my Heartfelt beads in the mail today. Have been debating boxes vs. tupperware vs. trays. Of course got a 48 qt and now wondering if I went too small :)

Gonna splurge on a cooler soon here too. It's gonna be a good summer for cigars!
If anybody wants to part ways with some empty boxes, let me know.

Ya I'll take some boxes for sure. Just let me know how much ya want for them and whatever you need to cover the shipping.
the 70qt is as big as I could fit into my apartment closet. Id of love to have gone bigger but gonna have to wait for a bigger place. Gives me time to think up a good story for when I come walking in with a 6ft long 160 qt cooler that i'm using for cigars. sometimes "I swear hunny I really need it doesn't work" haha

My two cents: Get a big cooler, Lots of boxes, Oust fans and a pound or so of 65% beads.... Then let the mayhem begin. It will be full before you know it.

I'm in the process of setting up my coolidor also. I ordered some cedar trays from Forrest (Golfnut). You may want to check it out at www.wineadors.com. go to the accessories tab to find the trays. I got 4 nice trays with dividers for $62 shipped.
