I need help with an issue. I took a step back in irons. I went from playing some Mizuno MP 57 back to the Burner 2.0 irons. I get more distance and feel like I have more control. Low shots, left to right shots and vica versa. My only issue with these irons is that I have to slow my tempo way down, because if I keep my regular tempo I hook the crap out of them. The irons are 2.5 degrees upright on the lie angle form the Mizuno irons. I needed .5 flat on the on the Mizuno irons. From asking where I bought these irons E***N W***S they say that they cant bend these irons. They did say that I could send them to Taylor Made and get them bent. Can a normal golfsmith not bend these? If I do send them to Taylor Made will they bend them since they are no longer in production. I may have just lost money on these irons since I may have to change them again. Luckily I did get them for a super sweet deal. It still sucks if I have to change them. :argh: Thanks for the advice and input in advance.

I would certainly think that a local goldsmith would be able to adjust the lie angle without too much hassle. I hit Mizuno MX-300 and had them adjusted 1°. Do you know if there is a difference in the shafts between the two sets? The shaft flex could be causing a different release point. I am no expert so take it for what its worth, but shaft flex and weight along with flex point make a difference in my irons. . Take it or leave it, just my 2¢. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

The tempo statement is what made me think shafts. I hit Dy***** G**d X200 shafts which are quite stiff and heavy, but they fit with the my clubhead speed.

Sounds like E***N W***S does not want to be responsible for breaking your clubs. Going from 2.5 upright to .5 flat is a lot for cast iron heads, especially if they have already been adjusted once.

Like shadowcam said... That's a good bit of a move in lie angle. If they were forged, you'd have no issue at all.

Send them back to TM... It'll probably cost you around $4 a club. I'm sure a local guy will probably do it, but if he has an old lie/loft machine with a bending bar (which he probably does), your rolling the dice because if he does break one your SOL on your warranty. Also, you can get what they call "recoil" with cast irons, which is when some of the irons will actually try to return to their original lie angle. There's a guy around me who has a new machine that's hydraulic who bends cast irons all the time, but that's not going to help you unfortunately lol.

I went to EW today and talked to my guy there. I did the lie angle test with the tape and all on the bottom of my club. I was striking the tape in the center so I do not need to adjust the lie. My guy ad EW suggested changing shafts to Dy***** G**d s300. I have only had the clubs about 2 weeks so he also said not to do anything yet. Meaning that I haven't learned the clubs yet. I did go to my golf practice facility I am a member of and hit 5 buckets of balls today. I think I will be ok. I had my irons closed at address is what it looks like to me. I was hitting them much better towards the end of the session. I hope that I do not have to change the shafts, was told it would be $259 for 7 shafts and installation. If I remember correctly.

S-300's are a just over 100 grams, & the Burner shafts are around 85 grams, so that might make a difference to some people. I agree with what your guy at Watts says. Sounds like he's doing you right.
