I've had 3 different units and had nothing but problems. The ambient temp in my house gets to around 85 if the AC isn't on (which is whenever I'm not home) and the units I've had would only cool down about 6-8 degrees from the ambient temp. So if it was 85 in the house the wine cooler would read 77-78 at best. I exchanged the first one, thinking it was faulty, the 2nd unit's glass front had shattered during shipping (nothing they can do about that), and the 3rd unit has been the exact same thing as the 1st. It just doesn't seem to have the cooling power it needs if the ambient temp gets too high.

The unit comes with a 1 year warranty but you've got to pay for shipping of the old unit back to air n water, plus shipping for the new unit to your house, which means the exchanges cost me $50 each time. With all the money I put into it, I should have just gotten a more expensive, better unit to begin with.

After this 3rd one not working, it qualifies as a refund, but again I have to pay the $25 shipping one way. I already bought an edgestar which has treated me much better and I'm just returning the new air to get some money back out of it to put into an actual wine fridge for my fiance.

Sorry for the long story, but I did not have good luck with this unit. I know I'm not the only one, but there also seems to be people who haven't had any issues.

85!? Theres your problem. The peltier isn't made to cool that much of a difference of air temp unlike a refrigerator. Wiki says TE cools 5-10% whereas compression style (i.e. refrigerator) cools 40-60%. My house stays around 70-73 throughout the year and the unit stayed solid at 65-65.

Yeah I hear you. I'm actually getting quotes now to get a new AC unit because the one I have now is 40+ years old, so hopefully 85 will never be a problem again.

That being said, the Edgestar I bought doesn't have a problem getting the unit to 68ish which is right where I want it. :)
