I am pretty stoked for this. I have been waiting awhile to see some of these match ups again. Last Euro Cup was awesome and I got to watch most of it. This Euro Cup should be even better. If you like soccer at all, then you should try and watch this. This is where most of the best soccer in the world is played.

Best soccer in the world? I am going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there... I love watching national teams, but since the players spend more time playing for their clubs, the play usually looks herky-jerky... Did you just see that first Greek goal? That capitalized on the fact that the Polish defense completely crumbled - that crumbling is not often seen in the EPL. Then you have the passing, which is sloppier meaning possession just keeps flipping back and forth... No matter, I still love the game.

Regardless. It is good to meet a fellow footy lover. Enjoy the tournament! (Do you have a team, or are you just watching?)

Obviously the teams do not have as much time to play together like they do with their clubs, but when you start getting deeper in the tourney and all these players have a couple weeks with each other. Then magic starts to happen. Spain's team get ridiculous after a few matches.

I am a Chelsea supporter, but for this Euro I think I am pulling for Portugal. I believe Germany will pull it out though.

Yeah I love footy. Anytime I get to talk about it with others is great. Usually never happens over a cigar, because none of my pals have any interest in the sport.

I feel you... I have one buddy who loves the EPL as much as I do (we support different clubs) and will smoke occasionally. All my smoking buddies always wanna talk about Basketball and Baseball (of which I have little interest). And you are right about Spain, but without Puyol or Villa I'll be curious to see just how well they come together. They do have the distinct advantage being that most of them play together at Barca.

A Chelski supporter? Tsk tsk...:nono::nono: I am reveling in the fact that my beloved Magpies finished higher than Chels and Liverpool for the first time in, what, over a decade? I was really impressed by the way this season ended.

I don't care who wins; I'll consider this tourney successful if Ireland makes it beyond the Group Stages... I am also looking forward to seeing Cabaye and Ben-Afra in action for the French (even though they cheated their way into the 2010 WC, and prevented Ireland from going.)

I did not think that the match showcased either teams talent. I thought a large portion of the attacks were very sloppy. It does not really matter though, I think the Germans will crush Italy.

It is very possible. Their offense has been unstoppable. They are playing at a very high level so it is going to be tough to beat them. Spain however, is also playing at a high level too though. Maybe not scoring as much, but their defense is holding up quite while. This formation they are running is working for them. Germany vs. Spain will be an instant classic. this year.

SO much for out assessment of Germany... Italy ACTUALLY looked clinically good. Instead of playing like a bunch of floppin' sardines drenched in hair product, they came out with some strong play... looking forward to the final. I am backing Spain, but that is because I have no love for the Azzuri.

Espana will win there 3rd straight world futbol title. Don't get me wrong Italy has the talent to beat spain but I see the Italian defence have lapses in focus and think spain will be able to take advantage of that.

Hopefully it is a great game....the tendency in these games is always conservative play, especially finals. We shall see - both great midfields and goalkeepers. I'm hoping for an open game. 2-1 Italy would be dandy! Not going to agree with your wishful scoreline, but I wholeheartedly want to see a really open game. I am thinking that Spain will try their standard "out-posses/out-pass" game as they try to dominate the play in midfield, while I think Italy is going to go for the "catanaccio paired with a quick counter-attack" style.

If you haven't seen this, you'll love it if you love football (it also explains Catanaccio"):

This is only the European championship which if Spain wins will be their 2nd. It would be their 3rd major title in a row which is what you might have meant.

I'm not as sure Spain will win. They have no striker with villa out and have yet to show they can put the ball in the net in this tournament. Especially against a tough tackling team like the Azzuri.
