J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is releasing a new size of Brick House, and it’s a short smoke designed to offer the smoker the foundations of the blend in a fraction of the time. The Teaser is 3 1/2 inches-long by 56 ring and is built like a Brick House but smokes for just a few minutes. It’s meant to give a quick taste of the Nicaraguan puro.

J.C. Newman Cigar Co., the owner of the Brick House brand, says the cigars will pack the same complex flavors and aromas of as regular-sized cigar, and are designed to be “tasting” cigars. “Similar to a wine tasting,” they explain, “the size and blend gives the recipient just enough taste to experience the Brick House flavor.”

The company says the smoke will last approximately 20 minutes. “We literally wanted to provide a ‘tease’—just enough flavor to get them excited about the great flavor of Brick House cigars,” said Eric Newman, president of J.C. Newman, which is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.

An interesting idea, but very Nub-like in size. Anyone else have any thoughts?

3.5 x 56? Seems like it should be a little longer than 20 min, no? And if I only have 20 min to smoke, it seems hardly worth my time. That's more of a cigarette kinda feeling. Just my opinion of course.

Had one at my local B&M brick house event over the weekend, nothing special. Coming from a guy who isnt the biggest fan of the line, but enjoys the very occasional NUB.

Honestly since I work in a cigar shop I cannot fall more in love with cigar makers who are looking to give full cigar experience to those who might just want a quick smoke. I will probably be doomed to being flamed for saying this, but the Villiger maduro machine made exports are a great smoke for the 20 minute time range. Often times I have customers who are looking for smaller quicker smokes for the times when its cold, or they don't have time to light up their favorite cigar. Recently I lit up a room 101 limited in the smaller size for the drive home, about 30 minutes and could not belive how amazing that cigar smoked and honestly gave me a great experience from when I first started my car till I pulled into the driveway.

The quick smoke market is there, be it non "traditional" and looked upon as taking away from what the experience us cigar people are after, finding a drive home smoke which I can light and be done in the time I drive is pleasing to me. The Waffe size has done wonders for the Java line, perfect time for a cup of coffee in the morning on the back deck according to my customers, again..filling a need and void in the market.

I'm all for a quick smoke, but the size confuses me as well. Seems like it would be much longer than 20 minutes. I wish more manufacturers made their smokes in the 4.5 x 40 size.

As fragmented as many people's free time is these days I can see how short smokes have their place. As for being not much better than cigarettes...as a former cigarette smoker I can honestly say if I had something in the 4 x 40 size, I'd have much rather smoked that back in the day. Much more flavorful and enjoyable. The problem with something that size or even a little smaller is that it's hard to stuff as much tobacco in there to make it as complex as larger sizes. There's also not a whole lot of time for the cigar to develop as with say a Churchill.
