Want to say hello and introduce myself... I go by Solo, just retired and relocated from Houston. I'm a 46 year old cigar and pipe smoker with a taste for the stronger, more aged flavors of tobacco. I started smoking cigars in college, though what we did was disgraceful to the leaf and to our palette. Really began learning about the etiquette and style of cigar smoking from a colleague, a pilot in the Canadian Forces from Quebec who was a real aficionado and a bit of a hard ass when it came to proper etiquette. I appreciate learning from him because it has allowed me to respect, savor and enjoy the experience a great deal more.
I'm all over the board when it comes to trying cigars, and I enjoy the new releases as much as the old classics... example: I really enjoy a R&J Churchill Tubo because of it's refined and complex flavor, but I also love the new JD Uzi becuase it's a firecracker lit at both ends trying to figure out how to light it's middle...
Look forward to communicating with many of you and hearing about your experiences as well. Smoking in the PNW is a challenge with all the anti-smoking bans in place... but we make do... If you're ever in the area make sure to drop a note and I'll count on burning some leaf with a brother.
Cheers!
