Hi All,

Another cigar noob stopping by to say Hi. I've enjoyed the reading through posts the last week.

I'm looking forward to the rmcigarfest this month in Boulder and the DE Mega Herf later that night.

I'll be heading to San Diego next week for work. Any suggestions on where to grab a bite to eat and smoke a stick?

Thanks!

Welcome, BB! There are quite a few BOTL that live in the San Diego area; they may be able to give you some suggestions as to where you can go for a good cigar...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

A little more info about me. I've recently gotten into cigars after the birth of my first child. I say recently as it is a whole new world that I'm discovering compared to the swishers sweets and black and milds from back in high school/college. Back then I didn't really appreciate anything that wasn't inhaled so I didn't smoke cigars too often.

I was gifted a CAO bella vanilla and a Macanudo Hyde Park Maduro when my son was born. The bella vanilla was ok. It reminded me of swishers sort of. The Macanudo had a really really tight draw and serious burn issues and wasn't really enjoyed.

When I was in Brazil a couple of months ago, I enjoyed a Partagas Serie D No 4 and a RYJ Short Churchill. wow... on both of those.

Since then I bought a 5 pack of La Aurora Escogidos Natural at $2/stick. I wanted something cheap just to work on my mechanics. I had been drawing a bit to quick in the past and burning too hot. Not too shabby for $2.

I broke my DE cherry with a Undercrown Robusto. This was another wow moment for me.

So now in my little tupperdor I have have a AF short story and a couple more of the Escogidos left. Looking forward to learning more, expanding my stash, trying new sticks to find my preferences, and meeting cool people.

cheers!

Welcome to the BOTL! Great to have you! I know a great British pub in San Diego! It's called Shakespeare's. They have great food, beer and spirits, and you can smoke on the wraparound deck (at least my brothers and I do). It's in an area called "Mission Hills" off of the 5 freeway. Or, if you need a smoke and beer, there is "Churchill's" in Old Town San Diego, also off the 5 freeway. A great cigar bar, great staff but no food. Smoking on the patio while watching TV. Just some thoughts! Enjoy wherever you go!
