So I bought a Lenovo laptop in October last year to replace my Sony Vaiot that was six years old. The Lenovo started to fail hard drives in January. Finally in July, 5 hard drives/a motherboard/a processor/and memory later they decided to send me a replacement machine. Well it's been roughly 25 days since I received the replacement machine and guess what? The hard drive failed! I've already got this into a case escalation category and should be receiving a call with in 48hrs.

So do any of you tech guys know what I should say to them on the phone in order to possibly earn a money refund? I never want to use another Lenovo product after my experience of the last 7 months.

Probably won't get money back after all this time but maybe an upgrade. Good luck with the process.

I've had good luck with my laptops and desktop from them but a projector failed after 4 days. Escalated to the third or fourth level manager who was very helpful and I did get a refund but as I said, it was within a week of purchase.

However helpful she was here is a copy of what she wrote me "We at Lenovo strive to do our best to make our customers happy. Sorry for your incontinence."

Oh, that's not good. I work in IT and I can tell you from experience that most vendors will not give a cash refund, especially after this long. My daughter has a Lenovo and hasn't had any problems, but that really doesn't do you much good. Sounds like the first one you got was really a lemon, it does happen more than you can imagine with computers, and should have been replaced a lot earlier. If they won't give you a refund, push them to replace the one you have with a higher end model and see how that goes. If you keep hearing "no", keep asking to speak to the next higher person that can make that decision. Don't cuss or yell, they'll just hang up and let you file a complaint with the BBB. Be persistent but polite, and try contacting the corporate office. Often times the customer/tech support is outsourced, even if it isn't to India it is still probably outsourced. We have a few call centers here in Orlando that handle tech calls from a lot of technology companies, and they are all outsourced. Good luck.

That's the other thing I forgot in my post. It has been my experience that when people realize you are quite angry at the situation but are still keeping calm, they are more likely to help you.

Yeah, being in IT at this point we would replace the machine, but since their products are apparently garbage this won't really help you. You won't get a refund since you didn't buy it from Lenovo (I'm assuming), but they will probably replace the machine again. I would ask for a new, higher end machine. But don't be a douche. That won't get you anywhere.

Out of curiosity which Lenovo did you get? The Essential series is crappy and I think the Ideapad I find pricey yet mediocre. I purchased a Thinkpad Edge E520 back in December and this thing has been solid. They're made for tough use and built like a rock. If you can sway them to upgrade your model I would go with one of those. Some of them are even rated for Military/Vehicle use.

I'm being calm and courteous. I'm just making sure to communicate my distrust of the products. If I can get a replacement/upgrade I will with out a doubt sell it off as brand new and get off this hamster wheel. I first purchased a T420i then they replaced it with a t430i I think. Either way their pure shit. If I'm going to spend a grand on a computer of some sort at this point it sure as hell won't be one that runs anything microsoft from the factory.

File a small claims suit locally and serve them by their process agent; guarantee you will get a call from someone who can authorize a full refund.

Damn, sorry to hear about your shitty lenovo experience. I haven't really heard about ideapads or thinkpads being crap; I've bought two and they've lasted me for years.

Seems like this is a pretty common trend with pc manufactures. My friends hp laptop that's only a year old started to give her issues. When she lifted the screen the top cover would push up and she couldn't get the plug in for the charger. I thought the hinge was bad. Turns out the top cover has all the mounting points, which of course are plastic protrusion's with little threaded inserts embedded into them. Evidently normal use has a tendency to break the entire protrusion off. Hp wanted almost 200$ to fix it. 40$ on Ebay i was able to replace it. Dealing with tech support was a joke. Was pretty much sorry warranties up, your SOL. Good luck, i hope you can come out ahead on the deal or at least break even.

Drop the CEOs name - you want to talk to the CEO!
But use the name!

Be adamant and demand that the CEO know about the problem

They will bend over to shut you up!
