I feel like most Viajes need serious rest. The exception is the Late Harvest, I love the '12s, so good! The Exclusivo lancero was pretty good right off the bat too, but it's better now.

Not to beat a dead ... But the fifth anni smells sour to me... going to let that rest a week or two or three
Just woke up and read this^^^^^^^^^^:sadstare:.
What do I know bro :)

I thought the exclusivo robo's smelled young back and may and those are smoking 100% better after three months
I just hope they are not a complete waist. I say this because yes most Viaje improve with age but for example I found the Viaje Samurai 2012 Maduro to be dog rockets at best. Also, I just smoked one recently and NO improvement at all. Still holding onto some for the long haul. Very turdy now, sad but my opinion...

Ha, the exclusivo robo's - I bought a ten pack and have not even broken the vacuum seal from NHC. Gonna wait, LOL. Same with a sealed fiver from NHC of the Viaje Skull and Bones ? from 2010. My patience will be rewarded some day...

I"m not too hopeful on this one. I've smoked at least one of everything viaje's come out with and I've never had a bad experience like with these. IMO, these aren't going to get better and the blend was just wrong.

Hey fitze, take the smokes out of the vacuum bag or they won't age properly. Put them in the back of the humi and forget about them for a while and revisit. They're very decent now and will be excellent with a year + on em. G1

I disagree about the Holiday Blend 11's. I thought they were spot on ROTT, and even
better right now! I bought Torpedo's because they were a much larger vitola. I love the
packaging on the Honey and hand grenades. Didn't go by Viaje last month, and hadn't
been on halfwheel in a few weeks.

Im puzzled by this. I smoked 2 sizes of HHG and thought they were incredible. So much so I have a box of each size on the way. Maybe you got a dud? I did notice you have to smoke past the torpedo'd foot before the entire blend starts humming. The cigar feels plugged at first, but its just the tapered foot. Smoke the 5th bugbear. F@#cking awesome. Another home run for Viaje!

Great if you like em! I smoked 2 like I mentioned but they came out of the same box. They were in the shop humi for a few days so, not ROTT. Personally, I'm not going to risk another $10 for a "might be decent" experience. Been loving the late harvests and the exclusivo robos have been great. G1

I am very confused by Viaje and their cigars, now I have chased cigars, and I will continue to chase cigars and have even chased these cigars, but the comments about them being bitter and not good just confuses me as to why we continue to chase these cigars.

These actually arrived at one of the shops I frequent and they were on the shelf for a few days before I walked in. Definitely not chasing them anymore. They seem to sit on the shelves for some time now. They still have some of the white label projects, S&bs from the last release, c4s roman candles etc. Nothing like a Tatuaje LE for example. G1

If I scored a box ROTT in terms of Viaje, should I freeze the box? Not familiar with Viaje that much so this is the first box Ive purchased. Thanks in advance!

I have been a Viaje fan since the ? Release of the SnB in 2010. There are others that know way more than i about then, but....... My experience is that 6 months to a year is when they start opening up. There are a few exceptions, but generally, i smoke a couple then put the rest away for a nap... Just my preference.

I am assuming that "freeze" means to put away for awhile, if you mean actually freezing them, i would have no idea, but think that a long term freeze would not be the best option for storage

Thanks for the response. I WAS actually talking about actually freezing them to eliminate any chance of beetles since the guy at my local B&M told me that "Viajes are ready to smoke as soon as they are shipped".... This is contrary to just about EVERYTHING i read online, so I wasnt sure if I should take extra precaution to keep the contents safe by actually freezing them for a night.

As far as these Honey Hand Grenades, I had one last night (Shank) and thought it was pretty good, very spicy ! I will let the remainder rest!

I will let a brother with more experience freezing cigars answer that topic. I never freeze mine, but i think that is just my personal preference.
Glad you liked the HHG. I have a few set aside at my local, but haven't had the chance to make it in.
Good luck brother!

I'd reallyike to try both the 5th Anni and the HHG.

As far as Viajes being "ready" well sure they're not sick or anything like young Cubans can be, but they ship very fresh. So it depends on the blend of tobacco. The Late Harvest seems to be wonderful right away, at least for me. I prefer the others with age.
