Is Gurkha way overrated?

I'm not trying to just dump on them, but I've had half a dozen or so (different blends) and haven't enjoyed the flavor on any of them (that's totally subjective, so just a personal thing) and they've all had burn and/or construction issues.

Most have come in samplers…so have I just had bad luck, or is this a usual issue with their products? Trying to decide if I should write them off, or keep trying to see if I break my bad luck streak?

I believe the general consensus would be that Gurhka is to cigars as "Huffy" is to bicycles...

**NOTE** I rode a Huffy when I was a kid.

Not a Gurkha fan by any means but I think the overrated title only comes from the uneducated. I still think their 15 yr cellar reserve is a decent stick, as well as the evil for the Price. I guess an inferior stick is the price you pay for not having your own facility.

I believe Huffy made very good bikes before they sold out but others would know more.

Had one good stick, cellar reserve. But for the price and my preferred strength level I would chose another stick 9 out of 10 times

Maybe I should give the Cellar Reserve a shot before writing them off.
I think the point is: Not everything they make is bad. But, they have so many blends - it turns into a crap shoot. Additionally, you can usually buy equivalent or better smokes for the same price - if not cheaper.

this right here seems fair to me. also, maybe it is just me, but they seem to rely on gimmick too much, especially with their boxes. also, msrp on sme of them can be way high, but they might sell the same name in a different size (and possibly different blend and/ or fabrica) at a much lower point.

will say the cellar reserve is sexy. and i think the ninja is a PDR contracted smoke?

end of the day, spend what you feel you want to, and find out for yourself what you enjoy. you like them, cool! if not, we got PLENTY of other reccommendations. o)

They certainly rely on gimmicks, another turn off. "Oh, this box of cigars normally costs $650, but we'll give you a 90% discount and you can get it for $65. Buy before they run out!" As the cigars are available everywhere for long periods of time.

I personally don't enjoy many of their blends. A lot of hype and the smokes don't deliver. That being said, they do have some enjoyable cigars to be found, if you have the time to wade through all the lame ones.

They all taste like dirt to me. That's not a slam, they literally taste like dirt, and that's not in my wheelhouse.
