From time to time I read a description of a traditional cigar and it mentions that some of the tobacco is aged in barrels previously used for aging spirits. For instance the Anejo wrapper, and the filler for some of the Aurora line.

Does this qualify as an infused tobacco? Or is it just something that is done and not considered infused?

Not considered infused AFAIK. The liquid is not actually there for the tobacco to absorb. It is simply in the same containers once used for spirits, which I assume changes the air qualities.

IMO this is the epitome of infused tobacco. The only way to add the essence of spirits to tobacco, fwiw. I could be wrong but if the liquid is absorbed it becomes "flavored" not infused.

I know that Glenmorangie age some of their scotches in different used barrels, that once contained rum or brandy or sherry, and it imparts a different flavour profile to the scotch, so the same would happen with the tobacco i guess.
if you wanted to fully nerd it up, my science dictionary (only cos I'm a chemist, its not for fun reading! ok, maybe a bit before bedtime, but thats it...) says the flavour definition of infusing is "To flavor or scent by introducing ingredients" so i guess any other flavour added to the tobacco is counted as infusing...

I would say that it does impart some flavor in the leaf so in the strictest sense of the word...yes, they are infused. However, the flavors are more subtle in my opinion than in traditional infused cigars. Most people think of something like Acids when talking about infused cigars and Anjeos are not anywhere near what they are in terms of the flavor infusion. Fuente doesn't market them as infused either.

Fuente says aged, not infused.... so I'll go with that. Personally, when I think of infused, I think of a more deliberate process to impart a particular flavor on the cigar and one that dominates the cigars flavor. 6 one way, half a dozen the other....

Agree with this^^^ And I think we can all agree that regardless of what it's called, the Anejo wrapper is absolutely fantastic!!
