So I ordered an Oxford 500-600 count humidor from first class humidor. It just came in and i was soo stoked! It is beautiful! I start putting the legs on it and three down one to go...the
last leg doesn't line up...hmmm....start lookin at what's goin on...the (and pardon me for the following if any of our brothers are chinese) freakin chinese idiot that assembled it put the rear left leg attachment piece on upside down!!! I think to myself "no problem self, just take out the screws and turn it over" The damn thing is glued in also!!!!!!!!! Ok, i know that's what i get for goin cheap and imported. My options are to drill my own holes and hope the wood is still structurally sound enough not to split or wait till monday and call and send it back. I don't know i don't know i don't know! :argh::sadcry:

This is your call because there is nothing worse than waiting for something to arrive then having to send it back. In the same breath, who wants to pay retail for something new then have to "fix" it.

I would contact the seller and see if they would offer me done sort of discount or store credit or something to fix it myself. Shipping has to be costly, so my guess (and only a guess) would be that they would want to work something out. If you have the tools and skills, it could work to your advantage...

My 2 cents

Well i got the piece loose with minimal damage and gorilla glued and re-screwed it and attached the leg so all is well. It will be up to their customer service whether or not they ever get a dime of my money again or not. Was planning on buying a temp and humidity controlled cabinet that holds a couple thousand sticks in the future from them. Guess we will see what happens. I'll post pics shortly

Here are pics of it. If i didn't have what was needed i would've sent it back for sure! I will be on the phone with customer service on Monday and there will be some sort of compensation or I will never do business with them again, nor will i recommend them to anyone!

What one installed correctly at the factory looks like

This is the piece in the corner I had to remove, turn over, and re-install. Even has three lines on it which I assume is to designate bottom? idk but it is what it is.

Setup looks nice...if it hold RH then I think you're in business as nobody is really going to tell the difference as to the legs on that unit.

That's a good looking humi. It doesn't look like any of the repairs involved the enclosed compartment for your smokes. I think you will be fine, but take your time seasoning it just to be sure.

And give their customer service department hell!

-edit- regardless, take your time with the seasoning process, you will be rewarded for your patience.

The problem was underneath and totally not visible if I approached it right and it worked out. Having been a carpenter for a few years helps i guess lol. I am taking my time seasoning it and the awesome thing is it's holding steady at 69% already for the last hour! Gonna give it a few days but so far other than the improperly installed leg attachment corner-board it seems like a solid unit that seals properly. Weighs in at sixty lbs. and was only $250 shipped. I'll let ya know Monday what their customer service is like!

Update on humidor. I just got off the phone with community service and i'd have to say they were great. Offered to pay shipping if i wanted to return it, which i said thank you but no i fixed the issue but a digital hygrometer would be nice for the headache and they said "no problem". So i'd have to say i'm happy. The unit hold humidity extremely well, had it sitting at 88% humidity for about 48 hours and took all water and my homemade humidifiers out 24 hours ago and had lost 2% after twelve hours and is still sitting at 86 this morning. Will continue to monitor until it reaches 70%, at this rate i'll be waiting a week, then put humidifiers back in and see if it stabilizes there and put some sticks in! Overall i give this company an A-. I understand the quality control aspect is pretty much out of their hands as they obviously can't open and inspect every humidor as it comes in but customer service was very helpful and willing to do whatever was needed to rectify the situation. I would buy from them again. Oh and btw the spanish cedar in the unit is all SOLID cedar, not plywood and not veneer.

Send them a pic of the damaged leg. Maybe they can just send you the replacement without having to worry about the whole thing. Otherwise if you think it's gonna hold with time I wouldn't worry about it.
