You sure you didn't get a Ratzilla? I thought the Velvet Rat was supposed to be milder??I had one picked up from a Drew Estate dinner event at Federal Cigar in NH. They are an awesome smoke. Full bodied, chocolaty and earthy, dense smoke... and they pack a helluva nicotine wallop. Definitely an after dinner smoke (and by dinner I mean you need to eat a brontosaurus size steak). Even on a full stomach I was a bit wobbly and dizzy after finishing that sucker off... but it was a finger burner which is unusual for me. I'd love to snag a box of these when the become available.
I'm pretty sure it was the Velvet Rat... there was a BBR, a L9 Tubo, a UF13, a Papas Fritas and an unbanded Velvet Rat in the pack. I've only had the PF and the Velvet Rat so far out of the pack and I clearly remember the kick the VR had... some of the other guys at the dinner had the same response. Actually I think I posted it in a Today's Smoke post with the same comments and this was shortly after the dinner. Got alot of "Whats a Velvet Rat?" questions. You sure you didn't get a Ratzilla? Sigh..... I remotely remember the days in Wisconsin when you COULD have a cigar after dinner. Was it a private club??I had one picked up from a Drew Estate dinner event at Federal Cigar in NH. No, it's NH. Federal Cigar has a few dinners a year in conjunction with a high end steakhouse up here. The really big dinners (Fuente TAA Cigar Family Foundation dinner, Federal Anniversary dinner) the whole restaurant is rented out for the night and smoking is allowed upstairs in the bar area for the night (though not in the dining room downstairs because of all of the linens). There are other smaller dinners during the nicer parts of the year out on the restaurant's Cigar deck where cigars and pipes are welcome throughout the Spring / Summer / Fall. But normally no smoking inside the restaurant.Sigh..... I remotely remember the days in Wisconsin when you COULD have a cigar after dinner. Was it a private club??
