I have beads in one cooler and kl in the other. You can set your watch by both but the beads always have a little more variance than the litter. I think I've spritzed the kl three times this year.

Only thing is depending on where you live sprit zing may not work initially. I'm using kl and loving it but first couple weeks I did the sprit zing thing and just wouldn't get up to the right humidity. It's less than 5% here in te desert most times I had to add a bit of dw to get them to absorb some but now they're working wonderful. Just what inobserved

Thanks Cigary43. How much is needed to run and stay at a solid RH? I've only been using 3 bags. Today I've added more. Is there an equation on how much should be used for the amount of cigars your storing in one unit?
PM sent.

I had the same experience with Beads....they would vary from 2 to 5% and I always felt like I was worrying too much and checking the humidity almost every day...with KL I go weeks to a month w/o having to worry.

In your kind of climate where there is hardly any humidity at all you'd have to adjust the amount of DW to more than the usual ( obviously ) as here in Atlanta I don't need much DW to keep the humidity where I like it. When I stay in San Diego I find I add a little more DW there and in the desert I can imagine that it's double the amount....but as you said once you get to your number you can pretty much lock it in.

Cigary43.... Thanks so much for all the info. Very helpful, I haven't sprayed mine in a long time. Probably the reason for the drop in RH, gave a few sprays after I read your PM so I will be checking to see where I'm at when I get out of work today.

YW Martin....KL sure takes the worry out of checking RH every other day...just a squirt or two brings back RH where you want it.

A few days after I posted this my rh dropped a bit. Up and down for a few days. Then I gave it two good sprays of h20.

After that it was rock solid at 65% for 3-4 wks with no maintenance.

My cigars are smoking just fine too.

It's a wonderful thing and when you actually perform the 'light maintenance'...couple of spritzes is all you need for another month or so. ( Use Distilled Water...H20 is not the preferred type of water )

For Burghblast.....don't use just any KL....use UNSCENTED like Exquisicat w/Pearls. The blue crystasl neither harm nor help the process so don't think you have to sit there and pick the blue pearls out one by one.....I know some who do that and it's not necessary. Remember...shallow containers are your bests friend for the KL to work effectively and don't SATURATE the KL...just mist over the top of the KL is all it takes.
