So... I've been smoking cigars just over a year now, and I'm 27 years young. I still consider myself a cigar enthusiast in the making (at best). I have a modest collection, some HTF, etc. I brought my dad out to my weekly HERF, and he had a great time, shooting the sh!t, etc. Anyway, my dad recently started getting into the cigar world. He has looked online for supplies, humi, and cigars of course. He is so stoked! It's weird because he is coming to me with advice about the lifestyle, and while I am still learning, now we can learn together. Not sure what lit the fire under him to start, but I have to recognize it, and praise it, and support it. Growing up, I was learning almost everything from him, now I am able to teach him what I have learned.

It is interesting to watch. I'm sure he won't be the last one inspired by me.

Thought I'd share, because I love my dad, and I'm glad we can share this newfound lifestyle.

Have any of you guys inspired someone directly or indirectly into the cigar world? Who?

Thanks for sharing SCB. I wouldnt say Ive inspired anyone, but I have got my best mates brother and my own brother kinda hooked. Just recently bought my lil brother a small humi for his birthday (plus all the other goodies, cutter, stand, humidifier etc) and a few cigars to try also.
He was trying to get me to have a stick with him the other day, I was ignoring him as usual, he started heading to my room (where my humi's are) and yelled out 'I'll just grab something from your top shelf'...Ive never moved so fast before lol
Its great to catch up and share a smoke with BOTL, even better whens its with your family!

My father did the same exact thing. I told him to be careful, because its very addicting. He bought a 200 ct humi that he said he'd never fill. Didn't take him 2 months, and he bought a cooler. Needless to say, he's hooked and prob has more cigars than me. Nice to share something with him tho. Also, my best friend is starting to really get into it. So much so, that he is starting to have stuff delivered at my place to keep it quiet. Hahahaha. The things we do.

Good to hear SCB. I recently got my wife into the hobby.... She's hooked on EPC NWC Stellas. Also AF Short Storys. She smokes 2-3 cigars a week with me. It's rather enjoyable. :)

Dude...almost brought a tear to my eye with this thread. I wish I had this in common with my father but sadly no. My late grandfather was the closest thing I had to a smoking partner but we smoked, chewed, and had even pipes. He wasn't big into cigars but enjoyed one from time to time. It's because of him I enjoy this hobby.

Much like Ciggy, I wish I could have a similar relationship with my Dad. He quit smoking in the 1970's and refuses to ever go back for fear that he'd relapse - I gotta respect that. My grandfather would have made an awesome smoking partner, but he left this world when I was 13. I just get to use all of his old ashtrays - (Yo SCB, thanks for being with me last Saturday when I first got to christen that "favorite" ashtray of his).

Of course, Sean! I wish I could have met your grand-dad. He sounded amazing the way you described him!

Awesome to see SCB. I shared this as well with my dad for a few years before he passed. I miss him and the once a year I got to see him and sit out on the steps for a smoke. Anything to bond over is awesome.

I got my brother involved a few months ago. Now he is bugging me to split boxes, asking me about humidity, etc all the time. It's great!!! I told him about BOTL so he should arrive soon.
