I don't really know how to describe how this viaje is burning other than inward coning. I hope that makes sense. The stick is burning nicely otherwise and tastes great but I've never seen this happen where the tabacco burns quicker on the inside. Hygros been reading 69 with 69 degrees consistently. Any thoughts?

my guess is that the cigar needed more time to acclimate to the 69 rh level, or uneven light, or that cigar is just using a particular type of tobacco in its blend that burns noticeably faster.

I see this a fair bit when smoking dryboxed sticks outside in 80+RH. The wrapper soaks up the humidity and burns slower than the "core." Seems to happen with a variety of sticks for me, so I think on rainy days I'll stick to my not-so-HTF stuff.

It could be due to construction. Missing leaf or loose construction could be causing it to burn faster in the middle.

wrapper leaf matters. i have had a time with some CBL sticks, where if the wrapper is very thick, and the humidity goes off, the thing just will not stay lit. on my side, it usually bores down into the smoke going out, and then i bitch and whine, and relight.

I have had this happen with some cinco vegas sticks, can't say why but it was the first couple i smoked in the first week or so after receiving them. Let them rest in the humi for a month or better and haven't had a problem since. I keep mine set at 69% as well and haven't had this problem with any other sticks.

I'd say drybox for two days, let the wrapper dry a bit, and when you go outside, maybe it'll help equalize?

I have experienced this quite a bit with Viaje and some other Raices Cubanas cigars. Exclusivos have been the worst but I have also had this issue with the TNT, Late Harvest, and 2010 Holiday Blends. AB Tempus and Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf have very burn resistant wrappers as well. The result is a cigar that cannot be smoked at a slow pace which is very aggravating for me.
