I know cello will let the cigars 'breathe' and humidity to pass, but did a quick google and cant find much on foil. For example, my box of Tatuaje TAA's 2012 come foil wrapped in a bundle inside the box. Anyone have experience or know more about foil permeability?

If you want to age long term I would just leave them as is. If you plan on smoking them soon crack em open.

The foil is traditionally used when cigars are "wet packed"
If it makes you feel better poke a hoke and let it sit; "wet packing" is a way of storing cigars long term. If it affected the humidity in anyway it wouldn't be used for long-term aging.

wet pack in foil is supposed to slow the aging process, adding viable years to your smokes, by slowing the air exchange. a lot of kids here say that LESS air flow, and SLOWER aging, will ultimately yield better results. especially in the CC side.

FWIW, i would bet dollars to davidoffs that pete has his stash of TAA that he keeps sealed in foil. as long as he keeps people off them. o)

Interesting points about better aging, and I now remember reading somewhere that pete stores his cigars how they come. If they are good enough for him they'll be great for me.

...brb, buying 2 boxes and opening one. will report back in a few years with results

Like the others have said. If you plan on sitting them leave em in foil. If you plan on smoking obviously then you need to crack em. I finally opened up my cojonu 09 ff's that were foiled, didn't want to but I really wanted to smoke one. They're awesome by the way. Not sure if it defeats the purpose but if you wanted to I'm sure you can remove one to smoke and then reseal it somehow.

Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. Hopefully it'll also be less tempting to smoke one if they are wrapped up in foil too.

Yeah I agree but am not trying to sit on most of my smokes for years to inpatient. But I did just carefully take out 10 tat PCR. 'S and sealed the rest back up don't know if that helps probably not but most wet packs I have gotten I just open and put them in my humi I think it really only makes a difference if you are doing a super long term run on them but idk good question by the way!
