So it's happening, I am getting married January 5th! We had the wedding scheduled for march 23 of 2013 but we found out we are expecting our first child so we decided it best to move it up. It is going to be a big 2013 for our family. I am trying to figure out what I am going to be smoking. I will have one after the wedding during the party time and one once the majority of the party is gone. Here is what I am debating.

1. Velvet rat ( searching still)
2. FFP
3. Behike
4. Opus x lost city
5. Porkchop
6. Lancero el triunfador ( the original blend I am told when it was gifted that Pete used)

What did you guys smoke on your big day?

I have 2 boxes of La Palina "Alison" (name of my lady) that I will open at the wedding and then smoke one a year on the anniversary. And I have box of Ramon Allones Superiores that will likely be the "smoke of the day".

Great selection of sticks you are debating; the behike is always a good choice and the lost city is a good stick (not worth the $ IMHO)

Congratulations!

I will cover you for the Velvet Rat brother, it's my only one, but its a pretty big day and you should start or end it with a bang!! Consider it my wedding gift, I only ask you smoke it that day for sure and enjoy the hell out if it for me!!!! PM me your addy brother!!!
That's an amazing gesture and I appreciate it so much. This place is the greatest, I am glad that I decided to join after at least 6 months of lurking around. I'm sitting here in the garage of my original BOTL my dad in Georgia, waiting for him to get home from the office before I take off back to California in a few days. Nothing more enjoyable then slapping him with an awesome cigar every night while I am here, he's my first bomb victim I guess.

I didn't know what the frack I was doing when I got married... I bought a box of DR cheapies from Cigars Int'l or Thompson's, passed them around to the guys and enjoyed the hell out of'em! LOL

dude, congrats, and much joy to the both of you!

my suggestion would be, smaller is better, JUST because you are going to be all over the place, everyone will want a piece of you, and a 3hr tour of a smoke will pull you out. of circulation too much.

+1 ^This, during time constraints it will be difficult to get any of these in without somebody wondering where the hell you are. I'm sure you could scroll through the winter/quick smoke thread and pick some of the best smokes out of there and be satisfied for sure. Save the good smokes for the honeymoon!!! Congrats brother, happy health to the little one coming and the same for your marriage!!

Day of wedding smoke is in general best reserved for a very high quality easily obtained cigar, you will be busier than you realize. When I got married to my ex-wife her father and I had this plan to smoke after the wedding, luckily we pre-gamed and had a few great cigars before. I understand the notion to smoke a special cigar on that day, but it flies faster than you think and a smoke you only have one of that day is better off being something that isn't in the unicorn level of finding. Congrats though, both on the marriage and child!

Super excited because I have yet to try any of the sticks he sent! Obviously the prized jewel is the velvet rat which will be smoked on the wedding night. I think the mule kick will be the night before!

I agree. Save the good stuff for the honeymoon. Smoke something replaceable on the big day.

Awesome gesture and a true BOTL! Gosh, I love this site and the cigar culture behind it! Congrats on getting married! My fiance (common-law'ed wife) and I are hoping to do a ceremony in Aug. '13. Post up picks of the whole thing!

I honestly dont think I smoked at my wedding. Heavily intoxicated. Its all a big blur. LMAO! I think you should start with the Velvet, go to the Triunfador, and finish FFP style. :)

Any of those smokes are quality celebration cigars. I will reiterate what some of the other guys have said...go with something smaller, easy to come by, and good. Shoot if I had it to do over again I'd rock out a few Tat PCRs. As it were I was so busy here there and everywhere that I didn't have time. Plus this was before I joined BOTL so I'm sure I'd have chosen something sub par anyway . Congrats, good luck, and enjoy!
