So with all the Top XX of 2012 lists that are published this time of year, I am wondering what new purchases did you make because of them? This can include new cigars that you are trying out because of seeing them on the lists and reading the review or just cigars that you are revisiting to see if they have improved after your last impression. This can be any list, doesn't have to be a specific one.

I've tried a lot of the cigars this past year that I've seen on various lists and have stashes of some of them as well (so obviously those are not included), below are the new purchases that I made recently due to various lists I have read:

Don't know if I would've purchased if a list did not bring it to my attention
*Flor de las Antillas - I have had one before and although I enjoyed it, I did not go out and purchase more. I purchased a few after they received the #1 spot to revisit
*Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 4 Oscuro - Heard some good things about this before, but never tried one. After it made Halfwheel's list and I read the review, I had to try it out for myself and have 2 singles on their way.

Purchased now due to the lists, but would've purchased eventually regardless if they made any lists or not
*Roma Craft Tobac cigars - I would've purchased these regardless, but since they made a few lists I ordered a few now instead of waiting a little longer (only had one Cromagnon Anthropology and like it). So now I have a few of the Cromagnon, Aquitane, and Imtemperance on its way
*Ortega Series D Maduro - again, another cigar I was planning on trying out, but made the purchase now instead of waiting because of it making various top lists.

I smoked the FdlA but probably would've anyways. The ranking definitely jump started that decision though.

I always order some new stuff just based on the lists in general. I don't give any weight to position.

I ordered (from various rankings):
Joya de Nicaragua - CyB
Nestor Miranda - Special Selection - Danno 2012
Room 101 - Daruma - Mutante
Ortega - Serie D Maduro
EP Carrillo - Elencos
Casa Fernandez - Aganorsa Leaf

Some of that is stuff I wanted to try anyway but still.

The part of the list that impacts my purchases the most is the bargin section. Im always looking for good daily smokes. Sone of my favorite cigars period are bargin sticks, the fuente queen b for example.

I ordered some La Palina El Diario KB just before the list came out.... dose that count since they actually made it on?

Skip and Mike Rosales the owners of Cromagnon are good friends of mine. Really good guys who are passionate about the cigars they put out on the market.

As for the list...The Flor de las Antillas has been one of my go to cigars since it was first released. Very consistent but not sure it deserves the #1 spot on CA. I'll have to try the Nat Sherman to see how it ranked #10. No disrespect to Nat Sherman.

I don't know that I actively search things out because they made any list. For the most part I'd say every cigar on any list is already on my radar and I either have in my humi waiting to be tried or am on the lookout in every B&M I walk into to pick up.

The Nat Sherman is a fantastic cigar and in my opinion deserved to be rated higher. I actually expected it to be top 5, if not #1 itself until I saw the list. Don't skip the Timeless, it is a great smoke.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind.

None so far, though if I run across the Nat Sherman Timeless I may give it a try, and the CA list provided another nudge to smoke more CyB lonsdales.

That said, my brother in law got me a box of 858 Maduros for Christmas, far and away one of my best Christmas presents ever, and I found out it was because the 858 Sungrown made the top of CA's best budget cigars list last year. So thank you CA!

Agreed 100%, the only cigar on the top 10 I would take over it is the Padron. Have not smoked the #2 cigar though.

I am smoking the Especiales size right now Dread, 6 x 38, and it is just awesome. A little spicier then the rest of the line. We just got them in here at CK and being that it's my fav size I just had to light one up! LOL

Brandon has been killing my budget. He gave me a FDLA before the ratign came out and I bought a box. These were sucked up by my "friends" and now I have two more in hand. The Cromagnon series and Intemprance have been wonderful finds that I have noted over the last year.

I do what I can Chuck! :king:

And I'm glad those got to you so fast. Enjoy the goodies as always. Let me know what you think of the Timeless and CyB!

I've only briefly looked at this year's list so I'm not sure what all is on it. I'm keen to see how the FdlA has progressed, though it'll likely have to wait for warmer weather (no way I'm freezing my butt off for and hour and a half). There are a few others that I look forward to trying, but no rush. I've hit a rut in my purchasing. I have enough cigars now that it will take me a while to smoke 'em all so I've slowed WAY down and what I do buy has tented to be stuff I've already tried and loved. In the past the cigars I've tried based solely off CA's list were disappointing...guess I picked the wrong ones :dunno:.

CA made me realize i had a box of FdlA robusto buried from when they first came out, so flipped them into my open rotation. also snagged more magR44 before the n00bs scoop them all (though, in fairness, a petite ANYTHING usually turns novitiates off, so might have been safe. oh well, more fuente!). halfwheel made me feel like i did not try hard enough, or kick myself for the few i didn't get more of. have to read more top of the year lists; just those two is like going from wheel of fortune to jeopardy. i mean, seriously!

also, try the magnum R 44 if you haven't! the sherman is made of win as well. o)
