When I joined BOTL, that's when. Leaving in the morning heading for Illinois. Going to attend some training on large animal rescue and extraction techniques. Anyway, I'm packing my bags and trying to decide what cigars to take...I apparently need a bigger cigar caddy because I can't seem to narrow down the selection to just ten sticks...:squinteye. I've got lighter bodied sticks for morning smokes, smaller sticks for outdoor colder weather, but also some bigger ones for the drive and possible indoor smoking. Favorites to share, new ones to try, and some nicer after dinner smokes. Sheesh...and I give my wife crap about the amount of clothes & make up she packs.

LOL...I go through the same thing when I travel. I have a snap-lock container that I use for my travel humidor and I can never seem to narrow it down to less than 20 cigars. I started with one that holds 12-15 sticks and "graduated to a larger one that holds as many as 30 (if I don't use the foam layers in between).

I used to give my wife crap about all the hair care products she packs when we travel (if you have ever seen my hairstyle you will understand why I have no empathy on that topic). Not anymore though. Like the old proveb says, people in glass houses should not throw stones.

too.... damn.... true..... I have hundreds of cigars and nothing to smoke!
I CAN SO RELATE! 700 cigars sitting here and not a damn one to smoke. Never have the one I want here to smoke. Cant wait to retire and work in a cigar shop.

I'm with you.....I was thinking that at the rate I'm going I'm going to have enough inventory to START a cigar shop when I retire!

Ok so I have several 3 finger cases for the couple hour trips. Then I have like 5 or so 5 count herfadore for those afternoon/all day trips. Then I have a 7 count herfadore which is my daily carry. THen there is the 10 count. well its for those days I carry 5 BUT I may be near a shop so need to have a little space in case i find that uber rare unicorns that I just cant seem to live without. then there two 15 counts, or at least there was I may have gifted one, for those over nighters. one 15 count for my selection and the other for well those uber rare unicorns cause im gonna find a shop somewhere when im outta town over night. Then there is the 40 count one. which is always going on every trip for more than a night.

Now follow along closely. The 40 count stays in my car. I may find some stuff, you know on my way to work or something. the 10 count is always with me on my bike, sometimes with a 5er but always with my 7er. Now if im on a long bike trip well then all bets are off. the 40 count, 15 count, 10 count and easy access to a 5er. (the 7er is new and hasnt been on a bike trip yet.) thats if the trip is at least a week long. if its a three day trip then maybe ONE of them can stay home. OMG I need help.

Sounds like a few of you have got a good handle on the packing -

Next phase of complicating travel planning:
Surface or Air? - Nice thing about land travel is that you also plan your itinerary around B&M locations. I can smoke cigars in my car, so big plus if I can drive myself. Flying generally faster, but can't smoke, obviously. If you can't go non-stop, make sure to layover in Denver or Atlanta or another airport with smoking lounge. If flying through O'Hare, make sure theres at least 90 min layover to get outside and back through security. Then, there's the issue of rental car. Big, big bonus points if Hertz is available and competitive. If it is avail, but isn't competitive enough for company to spring for the difference, is the difference manageable for me to cover out of pocket? If not Hertz, maybe go with local/cheapo outfit with older cars and blame the smell on previous customers.
What about off-time? Brothers from here in area? What about from the other 4 forums? Competing commitments for evening - wife? Company functions? Other interests? What if I go to one of those godforesaken counties where you can't smoke on the golf course? How do you choose, then?????
I don't remember travel being so difficult before I started enjoying cigars.
