Holiday smokes

Hey folks,

I wanted to know what you guys keep reserved for those special occasions or holidays like Independence Day or something along those lines. Do you buy ahead of time to let age for that specific day?

Personally, every time I smoke I feel it is a special occasion, everything is fair game. I don't buy/hoard anything specifically for a special occasion, just open the humidor and grab something when I want to smoke.

Never really plan ahead. Same as Mac. Just open up that humidor and pick what catches my eye

I will usually smoke a FFP or Padron Family Reserve for special occasions. After I stock up on the FFP's they will become more of a regular smoke though.

Those are my special occasion smokes as well. I do tend to smoke the FFP more often than the Family Reserve.

For special occasions I like to keep a couple Opus X or Don Carlos De Aniversarios around. If it is a really special occasion Like when my wife gets her Docorate degree I have a Cohiba LE 2001 waiting. But for holidays I smoke anything that sounds good.

myself, i usually grab something that got sent to me, gift/ bomb or trade, and let the fact that i have touched base with so many cool people tie in to the holiday experience.

then again, with my gig holidays roll a little different, i basically work them all. god love job security. o)

Like most have stated, I smoke what I want when I want, but to perhaps answer your question a bit better...I don't buy sticks specifically for events. If I'm feeling celebratory, I'll pick a stick that has been aging longer or is from my "top shelf".

same position as most of the others... i dont set anything specific aside.. typically I dont know what Im going to smoke until about 5 minutes before I put a torch to it... just depends on the mood.. what I might have eaten.. the time of day.. whether I am going to have the time to relax and enjoy it.. etc..

for example.. on the 4th I tend to stay very busy... Im running the grill.. entertaining guests.. setting off fireworks.. etc.. and normally eating like a horse.. Ill probably not reach for a super premium.. but instead will find something a step above yard gar status.. that is full bodied...

on Christmas Im typically lounging around, chilling out, and likely smoking with my father in law while sitting in the garage, watching the kids and dogs run around the yard... taking it easy... and eating like a horse (see a pattern here?)... I might be inclined to dig into the humi and pull out a couple of really nice smokes then...

just depends....
