Haha well guys all I have is a cheap cob that I enjoy puffing out of every once in a while. There used to be A tobacco shop in my college town and he blended all his own tobacco but he went out of business. I'd be willing to pay for postage abomb or hosh if you have any good samples for a noobie to try. The one I used to buy that I liked was called black Cavendish if I recall correctly.

On a side note, if your questioning it maybe you aren't ready. It does have a learning curve to it and it just depends on the person. Some people are naturals when it come to smoking a pipe and others have to work at it. I would say, buy a corn cob for five bucks and ask your local B&M for a couple samples. They will most likely be bulk tobacco but some aren't bad. You can get some tin samples from some of your friends on BOTL.

Maybe i'm one of those "naturals" but I didn't find the learning curve to be much with pipes. Once you learn how to pack the pipe, light the pipe and avoid tongue bite with some blends (smoke slow) it's pretty simple. If you're interested pick up a cob for a few bucks and some cheap OTC baccy and have at it.
Yeah, I am not really ready. I like the Cob pipe idea, and just "seeing."

I've got a couple of inexpensive "knock off" pipes that I haven't smoked in years... They smoke just fine... I just haven't fired them in in forever since picking up nicer pipes...
I'll send them, plus a couple of samples of tobacco...
