Howdy, I have enjoyed and occasional cigar for many years, but really began to enjoy them more frequently two years ago when I learned the difference between cheapie short-fill machine made cigars (think Swisher, White Owl, Outlaws..) and good hand rolled cigars.

My serious interest in this hobby began about a year ago, and I have already made a slew of noob mistakes - I'm sure that I will make a few more. The staff and patons of Santiago Cigar Factory in Rochester have become good friends of mine and have taught me much about the craftsmanship and art of premium cigar making. I feel lucky to have such a great hand rolled factory so close to where I live.

I'm currently in a feeding frenzy - for both cigars and knowledge. Last week I smoked a cigar (that I refer to as the "magic" cigar) that really raised the bar for my taste. I currently have a stock of mostly good rated value cigars that I really liked - I guess I still do, but they pale in comparison, so I'm one the quest for the next "magic" cigar experience. The premium cigars that I smoke at Santiago Cigar Factory are helping with this, but they rarely make it into my humidor because I smoke them as fast as I get them.

I'm certainly a noob when it comes to cigar appreciation, but I've been active for years on other online communities for many years. I know how to use the search function to find answers on a forum, and will try not to ask any questions that have been asked by noobs ad nauseum. I can't promise however that I won't occasionally break-in with annoying exuberance about some noob breakthrough that I might make. :) In sum, I look forward to learning much from my time spent here, and hope that I can contribute to the community in some meaningful way as well.

Welcome man. I live right outside Geneseo. Never been to the cigar factory. Hell, just recently found out about it. Next time I head that way for a smoke, I'll look you up. This is the greatest cigar forum. So much knowledge and appreciation. Be patient, and stick around, and you'll see. Be easy man.
