burned up some burley london blend on and off yesterday. not sure if it is for me, seemed a little flat and low key, but going to revisit the rest in a while to give it a second go.

plus side, i'm routinely making it to a cool bed of ash and nothing more with just pacing and tamping, and rarely a relight, so i might actually be getting the hang of this!

oh, and PIX IF YOU CAN! this shouldn't be any different that "today's smoke", let's have fun with this! nice pile of loose tobacco spread out, good shot of the pipe, plume of smoke or two.

whaddaya say, guys? sound good?

(sorry, couldn't resist!)

Great idea on the pix. I'm not quite as far along as you are - not "getting the hang of it" yet just happy to not be burning the everliving shit otuta my mouth at this point. Had a few a-ha moments yesterday controlling the pace of the burn and smoke production, so I'm getting there. Everything's smoking noticably cooler now - learning how to sip was a big part of that.

Dang, these Nordings are great and inexpensive pipes - they keep multiplying! The Bear in particular is a phemonenally good smoker!

Not the whole series, but I still want the Cobra and one of those oversized rusticated freehands.

BTW, how wet are you smoking the 1897? Right out of the tin or do you let it dry a bit?

an hour dry right now, which helps, but if you roll straight out of the tin you just need to pace better. this is probably my favorite of the four. them again, i don't know squat yet, so need to revisit in a year or so. o)

Out of curiosity I put a few pinches in an empty cedar cigar box and let it sit 2 days - much improved and still nowhere near dry! Doing the same with some SPC plum pudding that I'll smoke tonight. That shit was soggy when I got it. Dayum!
