So with a beautiful day out and off from work, it was already a 2 cigar day. I was really feeling like a Padron so i first pulled out a 2000 maduro ive had sitting around for a while. Awesome. Hit the spot and with coffee it was just the pair I was looking for. Fast forward to the late afternoon and at the time I'd still rather have no other cigar than another padron. With some recent accomplishments worth celebrating, a 1926 maduro #2 fit the bill. The cut, draw, and pre-light were dead on with the initial flavors impeccable as with every other one i've had.
Here is where it gets interesting, half way through the burn I had begun some yard work with my woman cutting and trimming the grass. No, the grass was not the interesting part, nor the fact that I was smoking it as a yard gar, but tar. Lots of tar. More tar than ive had with any cigar ever before, and interestingly I dont recall ever having tar balls from a padron in the past. I tried re-cutting the head twice but it kept coming back, seeping out making me look like I had kissed a pumpkin as my girl said. So with the last couple of inches remaining and being fed up with trying to make due, I decided to dissect the remains as there were a couple of stems showing through the head. While there were no burn issues throughout, I got the curiosity if the stems had something to do with tar production.
After close inspection, there was a small amount of tar going part way up around the stems but I still dont know if I could say that they were related for sure in this instance.
Anyone else notice a correlation in the past or experience something similar?
(and yes, we do do yard work and mow the lawn in swim suits. The neighbors seem to like us for the most part)
