What does a black ash and burnt tire taste mean? My Undercrown is now unsmokable after taking the pooch for a walk.

Yeah thanks, but you know how I feel about the big fellas! I'm fine actually, I will smoke when evey now and then with a v cut, but would rather have a smaller Rg. My dog is smaller than a box of Nubs so he doesn't take long walks.

Did you remember to remove the cello?

Just kidding....I'm guessing that you either smoked it too fast or it was over humidified. Speaking from personal experience, either one can lead to wonky burns and bitterness.

Smoking too fast. Relight and purge and cut some of end off where you smoke and it should be better.

I guess what's funny about that is, I pulled it out of the same place that I smoke all the time, plus it was gifted to me in the n00b trade that had a sticker date of Nov 11. I'm thinking I smoked er too fast. Hoping I don't have humidity issues too though. Thanks!

Same thing happened to me with an Undercrown...had two in the humi for a few months...and the first was good at first then later tasted like an ashtray...the 2nd I had a few days later and I made it a point to smoke slow and cool...no ashtray taste...was worried cause I like these...so I think it was me...operator error...done right it's a good cigar!

The undercrown is one of my drunk smokes, it's an awesome stick that does the same thing every time for me, mainly, I can smoke the heck out of it and not worry about burning a hole in my wallet or missing out on a small nuance, I've never had a burnt ashtray taste come out of one, but I have had some real bad burn and tunneling because of how fast I was smoking. It could be a combination of being too dry when you got it and swelling with you "correct" humidity, and smoking too fast. I'm a little OCD about certain sticks, and take the time to let them acclimate to my humidor before smoking them.

Did you notice a rather large stem in it by chance? Have had that happen where the stem had the tar coming from it. Pulled stem. Problem solved.

I didn't find a stem. I'm thinking, and hoping, that it indeed was operator error. I will e conscious, like I am with smaller Rg smokes next time I have one. The combination of walking and it being a cool windy day doesn't help with timing for me.

Well don't give up smoking while walking the dog, you never know for sure if it was that you smoked it to fast, to much humidity, or just a bad cigar. After all they are hand made and people make mistakes. Plus like you said the cigar came from somebody else so it could have gone through some bad conditions in the past.
