Ok so I get all these tats true BOTL style from Cody aka upinsmoke just cuz I said They were on deck for me to try. I've only smoked the red band (Havana?) white band (series p) and the TAA. I thoroughly enjoyed the series p only to find out they are less than 20 for a 5er in any size. So I ask what is there that makes us pay so much for smokes (ive smoked and i own my share of more expensive sticks) when there are so many inexpensive gems such as these?! Other than preferring a fuller bodied or different sized smoke at the time I would smoke that over and over and be fine.

sooo... just to clarify, are you giving upinsmoke props for broadening your horizons, or wondering what makes some smokes more than others, and why we buy them.

if the first, cody done good. tats, IMO, are a must try for what is going on in the NC cigar world.

if the second, you rock way too much decent beer and bourbon to ask that, man, you already know! some stuff is more labor intensive, or uses more select ingredients. some stuff is just made by the manufacturer as more expensive on principle, just to be "top shelf". there is always a law of diminishing returns: a four dollar cigar may be half as good as an eight dollar cigar, but a $16 smoke is rarely twice as good as the eight, and a $32 is never really going to be eight times as good. that being said, you pay what you can afford, for what you want. i have a LOT of cost effective solutions in my smoking arsenal, but sometimes it's got to be a 26. an opi. a tat TAA. just like sometimes it HAS to be pappy, or HAS to be DFH 120. if you want something good, it can be had for not so much, dependent on your palate. you want greatness (again dependent on your palate), you got to pay.

Yeah all great points but the issue is me. I don't enjoy cigars the same way as beer and liquor. I cant discern hints of leather, wood and hi karate. So I'm asking (other than normal cost factors) what is it that makes the more expensive smoke what it is. I'm absolutely amazed that you guys do a blind "guess this stick" ( best I can give you is this is full bodied" lol) so I'm trying to find out what is eluding me In the diff between good sticks and great sticks when I seem to be able to get a great experience across vast price differences. .

I think there is also the other problem of there being wonderful "budget" stick produced by big names, for me i love smaller sticks and its a awesome time for those, A.F. Hemi SS, MUWAT Baitfish, Papas Fritas are all now part of my go to rotation. I cant pick up the different notes yet but i can taste the difference between a liga and a white owl.

Awesome bomb. I'm definitely looking forward to trying a few Tatuajes myself. There are definitely bargain gems. But, we also pay according to the name on the band/looks/reputation etc. Enjoy, brotha

If memory still works, the P is a sammich, not long filler .
Pretty sure that's correct - the P's are "Cuban Sandwich". I had a couple Tat Series P's a while back and chucked both of them about an inch in because I absolutely hated them. Maybe I need to revisit as I see lots of guys who really like them...

I really like the Augusto Reyes lines and ordered a sweet deal online last week. Turns out they're "sammies" and they drop bits and pieces of tobacco from both ends like a cigarette would. I hate them for that. I'll probably end up giving them to someone, if I wanted to spit tobacco out constantly I'd chew.

Those el triunfadors are awsome! One of my all time favorites right there.

Never had a p but a good BOTL always raves about em so maybe ill give em a shot, especially for the price. The mixed filler part leaves me a bit hesitant though....

FWIW the newer ones are different, and allegedly better than the old ones? i know there was a blend change, and they may not be the beasties you remember them to be.
