I wanted to get some opinions on the recently released Viaje Exclusivo Super Lance. The reason for this is that I have smoked only 1 but found it to be bland and basically underwhelming. I was hoping for more as the reviews for it were excellent including a 96 from Seth's Humidor. I'm not surprised that I didn't find it all that good per se because I feel the same about many fresh Viaje Exclusivo releases, only to find them transformed into something much better in about a year. If you've smoked one how did you find it to be? Does anybody else find that these seems to be like completely different cigars down the road with a little bit of age on them? Please share your opinions and thanks in advance.

Yeah, I felt the same way. I picked up two sticks the week they came out and smoked one of them a week or so after. I wasn't that it was a bad cigar by any means, just flat and like you said "underwhelming." I do feel that it has the potential to improve a lot with some age and I may go grab a few more, but It's really not something I'm going to go by tons of in the hope that it gets better. As with most of the Viajes I've had, if they were $2-3 cheaper per stick they would be a "no brainer" but they way they are priced I always have to stop and think if it's really worth it or is there something else I'd rather try.

I've loved the viajes I've had. Stocktonjohn sent me 6-7 in my newbie trade and they've all been phenominal. I think the 2010 holiday was one of the top 5 cigars I've ever had. Just my 1 cent.

I have a 5 pk of the super lances. I smoked one so far, it was good but for me it was a hr to long. I mean the flavors I got at first were good not great but good then it just flattened out to me so after an hr I was ready to put it down I think it lasted me somewhere around 2 hrs not 100% sure about time. Btw I did not put it down I stuck it out I will do like most have said an let these rest awhile then revisit.

Well that's just it. You had a 2010 Holiday Blend and now its 2013. I see that you joined in August 2012 so even if you got the stick the same month you joined you're talking about a cigar that had at least 1.5 years of age on it. I know the aging is nothing exclusive to Viaje in terms of a cigar getting better but they seem to have the most dramatic transformations after a year out of any brand that I've ever had.
