It is my understanding that fairy dust comes from the wings of fairies.....So does "ferry" dust come from ground up boats? :dunno:

Some of the best of the best at spotting "plume or not" have already spoken so not going to beat a dead horse. Just a word of caution...you may be right that it is plume....but I would highly suggest you still keep them as far away from your other cigars as possible and look at them everyday (plume normally takes years, mold takes days and spreads like a virus). Plenty of tips online for if it turns out to be mold what to do. Best of luck brother! Congrats on the new box! Keep an eye on em!

Sure does, And it sparkles, And it's a very light dusting over the entirety of the stick no small clumps anything the. it's either ploom or manufacturing dust it is 100% not mold

It's 99.9% not plume either. Like others have said, plume takes MANY years (even decades) to form. Is it possible that it's just a very toothy wrapper on that batch?
I think he better hope its just toothy wrapper. I understand the eagerness to think its plume, but the chances are so minimal that you should be very careful.

I'd be inclined to believe that too, but he said it comes off, so I'm not so sure. If it were me, I'd quarantine & follow precautions just to be safe.

Yeah, I am perplexed as to the age and possibility of it being plume... The wrapper is incredibly full of minerals, the dust could very well be cedar from the boxing process. It wipes easily away with only a few crystals left behind... It isn't mold, but the , as everyone has correctly said, they aren't old enough for it to be plume necessarily... Probably just some tooth and dust

It's clearly crystalline. If your worried get a jewelers loupe and check the crystals at 10x. I don't think you have anything to worry about. That wrapper is probably aged a few years and there are ways to develop plume much faster than usual. I think it was a brother on this board that explained to me a plumador that someone had built. It cycled through temps and humidity to draw out the plume.
i would have to agree. from what I have read, plume not only takes a long time, it needs perfect conditions. I would imagine that the trip from the factory in Esteli to your B&M, the conditions were less than perfect.
A while back, I bought some old T52 robustos that had small crystal like sparkles (no white specks), but I just assumed it was the oils coming through or whatever. It looked different than pictures of plume that I have seen; almost like tiny pieces of glitter. I have seen this on Anejo's as well. I have also gotten fresh anejo's with mold that were shipped wet, and they had white specks under the cedar. (i returned those)
either way, smoke em!
