http://smallbatchcigar.com/product_info.php?products_id=476&osCsid=3a05e416a4e967fea157c006edad0c76just found a place that is selling a box of the goldie no. 5 for 155 shipped. best price i've seen so far.
I did smoke mine only after one day of rest. The urge to smoke it was too much. I hope all of yours are fantastic brother.Wow, harsh and unbalanced is way different from my experience. Perhaps taking my stick up to morro bay with me over the weekend helped it to relax and mellow out. I hope my next one isn't like the one you described.
I had a different experience as well, hopefully yours get betterSmoked the Goldie No. 5 yesterday. Ring gauge is too large. It was really uncomfortable to smoke. Flavor is very similar to the No. 2 but the No. 5's flavors were a little muted. Probably caused by the blending for the larger ring gauge. The banana note was not noticeable and that is a shame. It was similar to the No. 2 when I first smoked it ROTT, a bit harsh and unbalanced. I'm sure it will become a much better cigar with some rest. If I get another box, I might just get a roller to break it up and roll it with a broadleaf or sumatra wrapper into a corona gorda. Twice the smokes, it might add a little more complexity to the cigar and most importantly, gets rid of that insane ring gauge. Only the most interesting man in the world would enjoy having something that large in his mouth...
I really wanted to love it. Was hoping it was so good I could go multiple boxes deep. That one I smoked was probably a dud. While it could turn around for me, the ring gauge is still a problem. It is a personal preference but anything bigger than a 52 is just too much work for me. Mouth fatigue... Oh well. If I'm lucky the next Goldie release will be Kill Bill size and in cabs of 50 :cbig: The tobacco is what I want so if Maria wasn't rolling it, the price might be a little lower.I had a different experience as well, hopefully yours get better
FWIW, even though I prefer slightly smaller RGs, i also don't consider a 54 RG an insane ring gauge, so maybe my preferences are different
