Yup...What Warren said!
On a side note, it was these cigars that got me started seriously about 5 years ago. I think they were much better back then. Rockey in my opinion lost something when he started mass producing cigars. I don't smoke his stuff all all and haven't in a very long time. Just not my thing but I can see where the newer cigar guys can like these.

All i smoke is RP. Hard to believe that the vintage tobacco of 1992 is still around ;)
Although a couple of RP turned my lips brown. Thought the wrapper was just oozing oil. Anyone know what this could be from?

Seriously though. One of the first cigars i ever had. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I used to think that RPs were just for the crusty old guys at the B&M. Then I actually tried some of them and discovered that they were pretty good. The Edge is a decent smoke and the Decade is now one of my favorites. Really don't care for the Olde World though.

Ghurkas and RPs don't seem to get much love on this forum but that doesn't mean they aren't any good. Smoke what you like and to hell with the haters.

There are rumors that he dyes his tobacco.

had my first rp last night, which was a 1990 vintage - not a bad cigar, would smoke again but doesn't have the uniqueness i look for in a flavor profile that guide's my buying selection

Are you sure youre not talking about Gurkha's?? Yes, RP's have gone down hill over the last couple years but if you look at your b&m and find a box with a date stamp of 2006 or earlier....pure gold!

I've always been a fan of the edge. The edge lite is a staple that I keep for new smokers. And the decade series are great cigars. Sure, he makes his daily share of less than good cigars, but he makes plenty of good ones too. The 90 and 92 have always done me right too

In all likelihood, the stain on your lips was dye. My understanding is that some of the Edges have dyed wrappers, particularly the maduros. I guess it's difficult to consistently find that color? That being said, the edge is an excellent go to. Complex profile, with lots of transitions. Slow burn, great construction and price. My only complaint is the sweetness is very faint for me, I like my maddies to have a noticeable sweetness that follows through to the after taste.

The original Edge Sumatra (it was re-released last year I believe) is one of my favorite sticks, got one of the last ones around for my birthday a few years ago and have been holding it for a special occasion.

RP Edge aren't bad, I've had a few. They always have chests full of them at our locals. I'm always tempted to grab a handfull.

I really enjoy the 15th and 1990. I too have found the Edge Maduro to be quite "leaky" when it comes to the color. I assumed it was dyed. It's a decent gas station stick and a great beginner stick.
