So the other day i smoked a Montecristo Epic No.2, and it was one of the best cigars I've had! So today i went to my B&M and bought a whole dang box, i was wondering if anyone has smoked this cigar and wanted to give me your thoughts. Also on any NC Monte that you've had, if you have any suggestions, thoughts, recommendations. I truly love this brand, but also i just bought this box and havent taken the outer cardboard or the cello layer. How long can it last without a humi, cause i hate to ruin that beautiful box!

It needs to go into a humidor pretty soon.

Not a fan of any NC Montecristos. Though I thought the Epic was better than some of their other offerings.

It was an Epic No. 2. I don't remember what color the box was.
Hmmmm? Well youd probably remember the shape being different, it has a full pyramid shape, all the way to the end. Also it has 2 bands, one is the regular monte band but the other is a red band with epic written across it. but what brand cigars do you like the best?

I agree I'm not the biggest NC Monte fan. But I actually do enjoy the Monte White label as a nice medium bodies cigar.

That's what it was...

Brands? I like Illusione, Tatuaje, Fuente, EloGio, EPC, RomaCraft, Reinado, select Drew Estate brands, and many others.

All the No. 2's are in that red box. The other Epic (Churchill, Robusto & Toro) is in the yellow box.

Box should be fine for over a week outside a humidor. If you are going to be much longer than that get a big Ziploc bag and a water pillow or Boveda pack.

I've been wanting to try the epic no. 2, I enjoyed the epic no. 1, but for 20 bucks a stick there's so many more options and for way WAY less.

i know that for about 20 bucks a stick it sounds a little much, but ive had a real Monte No. 2, and the Epic No. 2 is so close to comparison. If you ever have an extra $20 pick it up, and trust me you will smoke it to the very finger stinging nub!

I have never given much consideration to the white label NC Monte's... I have been sitting on one of these for a couple years (got PIF'd to me), trying to figure out if I really want to smoke it more than anything else in my humi. Guess it is time to put flame to foot and find out for myself.

I would! Like I said, I like them. Although, it has been a little while since I've had one. So my palate may have changed.

All I know is, the Monte #2 is more epic than the Monte Epic #2.

Just sayin'... :D
To be honest there is a TON of hype that goes towards cc cigars, but there are some fabulous nc cigars that do just as good if not better. I've had the Cuban variant ( cohiba "behike", montecristo no. 2, and another one I've forgot the name of ) and they are great cigars but there are just as many nc cigars that are just as good.

Oh, I agree that there are many, many incredible NCs. I still probably smoke 70% NCs personally.

That being said, I'd still say that no way any Altadis-blended cigar is going to match the Habanos version of the same name. YMMV.

I've smoked both the Epic and the Habano Monte No.2's and I preferred the Cuban version. That being said, I really did enjoy the Epic and if they weren't priced so high there would be a place for them in my humidor. However, for the 15-17+ dollars per single they are asking, I'd rather smoke a Padron 1964, two Quesadas/Emilio's, or even the CC No.2. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and tastes, and if the Epic No.2's are your stick, then smoke 'em and enjoy 'em! Hell, there's a guy at my local B&M who smokes nothing but Perdomo and Oliva cigars. He can certainly afford more premium smokes, but he loves his Perdomo 10th anniversarys, Oliva G's and V's. He's been smoking almost as long as I've been alive, yet doesn't stray from those two producers very often because they're what he likes.
