List of Cigars Available in Dubai - Which should i try?

Hey Guys,

A lot of you would know that CCs are widely available here in Dubai. Funny thing is, there's not much variety after that :squinteye

You might know me from my introduction that i'm a beginner and have only smoked 5-6 cigars so far & have a 40ct humidor on the way.

I'm currently compiling a list of cigars i need to try before deciding on which ones i would prefer buying a box of.

Here's a list of what's available through the (limited) retailers here in Dubai. (we've got a few smokers centers & a few La Casa Del Habanos)

Please feel free to suggest which cigar from the following the following brands should i try. I've been a cigarette smoker for 12 years so feel free to suggest any full bodied ones too.

Please note: Most cigars are the Cuban variant and not DR, the rest are NC.

Camacho Corojo - Tried Toro - Not bad at all!
Romeo y Julieta - Tried Tubos 2 - Loved it
Cohiba - Tried Siglo III

My suggestions are bolded above, but there are a lot of others here more experienced than I am with cc's. Looks like you're off to a good start taking notes etc. Just keep trying singles until you find something that wows you, then maybe buy a fiver. If you buy a box, your palate is likely to change before you smoke through a whole box. Just my two pennies.

Camacho Corojo -This is actually a non-CC
Romeo y Julieta - Tried Tubos 2 - Loved it I'd recommend the short churchill, as well as
Cohiba - Tried Siglo III Partial to the Robustos, but also have really enjoyed the Siglo IV and VI. I hear good things about the lancero and espy as well, but haven't had the chance to try them myself. BHKs are incredible if you can find 2010 or 2011.
Partagas One of my favorite marcas. Shorts are good short smoke, the 898 are amazing. I do enjoy the PSD4 as an ordinary smoke, and the PSP2 is delicious as well.
H. Upmann Of the few I've tried, the #2 and the Epicure Especial were the best

Montecristo Love, love, love the 2010 Grande Edmundos, try those if you can. Petit Edmudos are also wonderful, and Monte 2's are delicious. I've heard good things about the 4's, but haven't given any the chance to age personally

Bolivar Honestly, my favorite so far has been the Royal Corona. The Belicosos Finos is a fine cigar, and you can't go wrong with the Petit Corona or the Corona Junior either.

Ramon Allones Specially Selected or the RASCC are delicious, haven't had any of the others
Saint Luis Rey
San Cristobal the El Principe is a marvelous little smoke, haven't really explored this marca much outside of that

Vegas Robaina
Davidoff - Tried 1 (Cant remember which one)
Zino Platinum These aren't CCs either, but are quite good
Don Diego - Tried Monarch Tube
Quorum Avoid.

i added a few of what i like and is a great representation of that marca. but mostly just try as much as you can. everyones palette is different and what i like you might not. i also like stronger fuller cigars, and i think bolivar and partagas will satisfy that hunger.

I've tried at least one size of each of the Cuban brands listed except for SLR. I'd buy singles of any of them again...except that there's four off the top of my head that I wouldn't:
Partagas Mille Fleurs - (I loved every other Parti I've had, however -- PSD4 is among my favorites
Fonseca - I've only tried 2 small sizes, but neither did much for me

As I look back on those, it occurs to me that each had a very short finish and lack of distinguising flavor....to me.
Every other Cuban brand on your lists has one or more sizes that I enjoy very much.

Hey Fallinher, not a problem at all.

Here are few of the prices, however I haven't cross referenced with the prices in the states, as we aren't allowed to import (via courier or shipment) tobacco into Dubai, unless we carry it in our luggage.

AED (united Arab emirates dirhams)

H. Upmann magnum 46 = AED 53 or $14.43
Partagas 898 = AED 43 or $11.7
Montecristo no 2 = AED 66 or $17.97


The above prices listed are from the catalogue of a cigar shop out of the Le meridian hotel, so I'm assuming the prices are higher than what's available elsewhere in Dubai.

What I'm gonna do is take a trip down to the local tabacconist and get their prices. That should make for a fair comparison. I'm traveling later in August, so I will get the prices from Dubai duty free as well.

Hey mate, managed to get this online.

Attached is the price list for all the cigars available at the Dubai duty free.

Just a note: Dubai duty free has both it's own cigar selection and also a separate LCDH. The price list above is for its own walk-in.
