I read on another forum someone basically told someone else their "liga collection" wasn't shit (in a nice way) because he didn't have the big black rat. I am fairly new to cigars but never heard of it. When other people on the forum asked him what that was he didn't answer. Anyone got any info on this??

As far as I know it isn't actually a part of the rat collection (dirty rat, ratzilla, velvet rat) but rather it's a larger size of the Liga no. 9. I might be wrong about this, but I am pretty sure that is what I read. I'm sure someone with a little more experience with HTF Ligas will be able to answer your question better.

I don't know what it is but I know velvet rat tastes better.

The Black Rat is one of the unreleased LP prototypes. I cant remember for sure but i think it was a dirty rat with an LP9 wrapper. The Big Black Rat was a larger version. Neither was ever released.

Just think of how many prototypes never see the light of day!

You are correct the black rat was a corona and the BBR was a corona gorda if memory serves. Supposedly, they were both awesome and the BBR in particular would be the best vitola for the blend. There are very few circulating around out there and I wonder how someone was even able to get there hands on any. Then again, I have seen events where Bashert Pigs were given away so go figure.

The last I read it was a blend that was ready to go and definitely good enough to be a released stick. However, given the current state of things at DE any release would be coming out after the Velvet Rat which I know some people stated will be coming in July but I would strongly doubt anything earlier than a mid-fall release time and then there is the UF-4 which sounded like it wasn't coming until NEXT fall. If it were to be released speculation was that it wouldn't be a Unico but instead a LE stick much like the Flying Pigs used to be. I couldn't even begin to imagine the hype and how incredibly HTF these would be if that was the case.

Can't see why they would release the UF-4; Saka stated most people couldn't tell the difference between it and the UF-13 since the UF-13 blend was just a slight tweak to the UF-4. IIRC, the UF-4 release was a batch of already-rolled UF-4 blend so they released them as an exclusive and a favor to the store and to get rid of existing stock. But I suppose if there was demand...

The Velvet Rat though was a very different blend than the Ratzilla. It and the Big Black Rat will likely be my all-time favorite releases, as they're the tweaks I would to myself if I could.

JD himself said the UF-4 was going to be re-released but the way he worded it made think that it was going to be a 2014 release. Either way it will most definitely be a October release of whatever year it gets released in.

I know people say that but I've had the JD4 and the UF4 and even looked at them next to each other and to me, they did not look the same or taste the same.

I've smoked a number of the test blends due to having good friends on this site and I think there are a couple that were never released that were fantastic (even better than the released sticks.) BR or the BBR didn't do much for me but the Velvet Rat was only equaled by the prerelease L40 (which tasted nothing like the regular release) as my favorite Liga.

I don't think the UF-4 and the UF-13 are at all similar. I can take or leave the 13, I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit for more UF-4s. That said, the 13 will age, I think, into something special. Also, that said, I'd trade a sealed box if 13s for 4s any day of the week.
