Good morning gents - I have been smoking cigars for a couple of years so still a newb but the first time I noticed this.... Yesterday I was smoking a cigar after some rain fall so the ground was wet. I find that I spit a lot while smoking. Strangely, mid-smoke I noticed that everywhere that I had spit there was a oil sheen.

I realize oily cigars are preferred and that tobacco excretes oil but I've never actually found myself spitting oil after smoking. Is this normal? I've read some stories of cigar manufacturers adding oil substances to cigars for appearance.... Not sure if that's what this is?

nope, that is not normal. you might have been tar balled, which is when an accumulation of oils and saliva accrues at the end of the cigar, and sometimes just drops into your mouth, but that is not the kind of thing you would miss.

more info? pix would be a little distasteful, but the cigar in question might help.

I actually took pics but figured that would be a but much. The cigar in question was the Aging Room M356 Presto - a very well received cigar from what I can gather....

yeah, pretty sure they are NOT coloring their wrappers. the cigars look decent, but if they wanted to make them look sexier they could. and i don't think those guys were ever accused of that.

more important question: does it taste "off" to you? if your cigar burns well and leaves a pleasant taste on your palate, relaxes you, and let's you enjoy things a little, but your saliva just happens to sparkle like some lame new vampire, that doesn't seem to be the end of the world. other than you have "twilight spit". o)

Haha, indeed it did taste good and smoke well. Just was odd to be spitting little oil slicks. Best to use my new found power of turning saliva into oil for good... not evil.
