Done it. Its cool. Not sure if I'd bother spending the money with two torches and a can of butane lying around... Easier than a match though.

I think people do it for the novelty and tradition of it. I smoke mostly outside. By the lake here there is rarely a day without a breeze. So It just won't work for me.

IMO theyre fun to use. Like said above, theyre just a long match lol. They seem to make a mess from flaking off as it burns but when I used them it was always fun to use instead of a torch or soft flame lighter

I've got a box of the cedar spills by commonwealth, whose ads you see all over halfwheel right now.

The spills are cool, quality done and great craftsmanship on the box it comes in and the spills. They do a great job as a gift for the cigar smoker in your life.

With that said, I'll stick to my butane lighter. Its easier, quicker and faster. I brought them to my thursday night herf and it was fun to look at but didnt get much use.

If you want to try it out without buying some, just take the cedar from inside a cigar tube and give it a go. You'll find out real quick if you're into it.

I just bought a few sticks from my B&M tonight and the lady at the register asked if I wanted some, of course I said yes. I've never lit a cigar with one before so it will be an interesting experience when I do.

Not to mention, I burnt my fingers.

Is this thread just about using cedar liners/random spills, or about the specific Commonwealth Cedar Spills? I've used both, and don't care for the spills off cigars at all. The Commonwealth spills are actually real nice. They add a great room aroma that my girlfriend loves. I'm also a big fan of the aroma. I've been through several of them, and only had one that gave me any fits. I can see they might not work as well outside-but that's not where I do my smoking.

Everyone once in a blue moon while at the B&M I'll use one for shits and giggles. They have them right next to the sweet jump spark lighter.
