Went into the B&M today to get a few AF 858's and low and behold, a half shelf spread of Liga's. They had everything except Undercrown's, which they are getting next week. I have never smoked a Liga before, but judging from all the posts about them on here I know I'm in for a treat when I finally light one up.

I picked up a T52 and rolled it gently between my fingers. The wrapper felt great and the stick itself smelled wonderful.

What are some of the flavors other BOTL pick up from these, just curious? What should I be looking forward too?

By everything, I'm assuming T52s, No. 9s, and possibly the Papas Fritas. In that case, grab a couple of the first two and a tin of the last and smoke them, one by one, just like the song.

If you see anything else Liga-wise, like a Feral Flying Pig/Dirty Rat/L40....throw your wallet at the cashier and walk out with all of them.

For your wallets sake I hope they dont have everything!

Interesting... My B&M has also just opened a LP account after years of not being able to get one. Needless to say, I'm under the impression that the recent change in the DE executive lineup has a bit to do with it. Im interested to see how the change in exclusivity of the LPs will affect is demand and quality in the coming years

Ain't that the truth. I went to a new shop over the weekend and they have a Liga account. When I saw that they didn't have any HTF stuff, I was both disappointed and relieved at the same time.

Its been 5 month gaps for my local B&M to get unicos. I am actually surprised they lasted over the whole weekend and one 2 other sticks were bought, normally they would push them as well.

I know of a couple of stores that have LP accounts but still no cigars because of the short supply. As to the quality, anyone who says the recent batch is as good as as pre-2010 Liga would be in direct disagreement with me, which is fine as we all like different cigars.

Well I guess I'm just speaking to the amount of new Liga Privada accounts after this years IPCPR. We're the newest of 4 Liga accounts in NH, and it came at a time that's pretty uhh, coincidental I guess? I wouldn't be surprised to see even more shops carry LP down the road and with a more steady supply

How would changes in the "executive lineup" create significantly more product?

Well every time I've asked, the limited supply has been attributed to Broadleaf production issues. I know they have a real strict standard of quality for the LP tobacco, no one else is having problems supplying blends that use high quality Broadleaf. This is purely speculation, but there's something to be said for trickling out supply, regardless of production numbers to keep people, like all of us, craving a limited product.

That being said, I couldn't imagine DE would open up so many new accounts if they thought it would hurt the supply to their existing retailers. Wouldn't it only make sense to "assume" that they're able to dish out more now?

Yes, I agree with the second part.

But I fail to see any connection between [assumed] higher crop yields and the company leaders.

I think it's a really interesting observation made by TheKidCigar... whether it's true or not, we'll probably never know. Regardless of the tobacco supply, opening new LP accounts could have been a point of contention within the Drew Estates management team, resulting in someone leaving. As consumers we have no true visibility into a cigar manufacturer's supply chain. We know what we're told at cigar events and in the press. Or maybe the management shake-up had to do with disagreements over their recent pricing strategies.... who knows?

I truly believe that at one time Drew Estate didn't have enough tobacco to make cigars to open new accounts. But companies are in business to ultimately make money. The tobacco supply issue can be solved with enough time, in theory. Maybe Drew Estate has enough LP now to open new accounts or knows that their will be enough supply shortly.

You guys got it all wrong... The only reason they can open new accounts us because Saka isn't there anymore to smoke up all the broadleaf. (I heard he could smoke, like, fifty double coronas in an afternoon).

LOL... that's exactly what I was thinking. But hey, you need a large test sample to insure proper QC.
