Curious to know if anyone here has found them in their cigars before and what did they do to get rid of them?

Inspecting some of my cigars this evening and found a couple of little tiny white specs running around on my cigars, at first I freaked, but after inspecting all my other cigars and removing the boxes I found them in (a couple), I did research and found out they were wood mites and are no harm to cigars. I plan on freezing them hoping that does most the work and then just manually killing/cleaning and removing any I see afterwards. Interestingly they were only in dress boxes and always on the bottom row.

EDIT: I also read that they have a very short lifespan and will probably die on their own in a couple weeks anyways

Wow, never heard of that! Be very interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience...

Me neither, but from what i found most cigar forums have at least one old thread about them and apparently from what I read they like to eat the vegetable glue on the cigar bands. The most common advice I read was along the lines of just wipe them off and move on, not a big deal.

Wood mites are common where moisture is present. Is your humi's moisture level high?
No, 65 using hcm beads and boveda packs. This was a box I got from someone else though and one from an overseas vendor so not sure how they were stored before me

This could be the issue then...especially if they were stored sitting on a concrete floor.
