I had one from IPCPR and it was extremely good. It was very different though and while I enjoyed it's probably something I would only keep a handful of at a time and not a full box. While the aroma was indeed strong it wasn't so much so that I couldn't smell it outside of the cello. Maybe it depends on the age or some other factor?

Stuck my nose inside a bale of that fire cured leaf, it was pretty crazy. A mixture of hickory, cherry, and licorice.

The Sam Leccia Black has some of that fire cured tobacco in it. With that cigar you can only smell the smokiness if you take it out of the cello and smell the foot of the cigar and then it is strong.

Ya the Leccia Black and the new Gran Habano American Classic both use Fire Cured tobacco. Neither are as pungent as the KFC in the smokiness department. The Leccia Black was just okay IMO but the American Puro was quite nice. The KFC is the strongest representative of the fire cured tobacco though.

I smoked one JD gave me at a event in May. The Leccia black has a similar flavor but not as strong of a flavor as the KFC. The KFC made me feel like some good ol boys from the south were bbqing in my mouth. Hickory, Smokey flavor. I thought it was very good. Definitely wouldn't put it in my humidor but I will keep more than a handful but not quiet a whole box at a time. I say buy one and give it a try, they are suppose to be easily available like the MUWAT's so finding them shouldn't be a issue.

Hickory, Hickory, Hickory. Did I mention Hickory? Grab a bag of smoker hickory chips and that's pretty much how they smell. I smoked 1 and loved it, but I love Hickory smoke. If you don't like hickory smoked meats you probably will not like this one. And yes, it's very strong smelling before lit. I could smell them through the plastic bag. I will say the smell dies down after a couple days, but I imagine the smell would leech into your other sticks if stored together.

I have not smoked these yet, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. Liga Privada are probably my favorite smokes. Unico's for sure. I'm on my 6th box of UF13s. I understand that DE sell a ton of Acids, and that profit allows them to make all the high end Liga's. But by the sound of these KFC's, they should be called Acids. I didn't care for the Leccia Black and these sound like they'll make those pale in comparison as far as the fumes go. I'm going to avoid these fume bombs like the plague.

Its a smart move to do it under MUWAT, since the acid line has a clear stigma of only be infused and taste like bathroom potpourri.

To answer a couple of questions I saw in this thread...

I "reviewed" the Fat Molly back in May, and said then that I wouldn't put these in my main humidor. JD gave me one that was relatively fresh and it made the humidor it was in stink for weeks. I haven't seen the production versions, so I'm stating this off hearsay, but I've heard that the production versions don't give off such a strong scent. Whether its a case of aging/rest taking off some of that powerful aroma or something else, I've heard this is no longer an issue and you can comfortably put the KFC in your "regular" humidors.

Also, I finally got to try the Leccia Black recently. The big difference for me (and, again, the KFC I smoked was a relatively fresh sample from May) is that the KFC is wrapped in the fire-cured tobacco and it dominates the flavoring because of it. On the other hand, the Leccia Black only uses the fire-cured leaf as a bit of the filler and, thus, the flavor is a bit toned down - you get the fire-cured taste in the back of your throat on the finish, but its not nearly as strong as the KFC.

I smoked mine with koreancowboy. We both loved them. Definitely very strong smelling. Not a bad smell but its strong enough i wouldn't ever put one in my humi. I do however, have a small 20ct humi that i use for stuff like that. Comes in handy at times.
