I was having my fiancé go through my smokes today for no particular reason when she said "honey there's a bug in here" !$&? I said. Luckily it was only in 1 cigar from get inspection. I had her put them all in plastic bags and to the freezer they go for 3 days. When I am at home I keep the house at 65 an below, she turns the AC off when she leaves. Of course the dreaded happened. Luckily I caught it in time! Hopefully the is the only damage. Just when you think it can't happen to you! Bam, they strike! I'd post a picture but tapatalk won't let me! 1 hole in one Tat El Triunfado brown label. At least he has good taste.

How much larva is generally in a cigar? Do they all carry it? How much larva do you think we've smoked in our cigar careers? It's kinda gross if you think about it. Is that Cuban "twang" larva ? Lol. I'm putting the cigars in the freezer for 3 days and 1 day in the fridge then back to the humidor. I guess this will be my regular routine from now on.

"do they all carry it?". probably. can't really spray the crap out of tobacco that fetches a premium for it's taste and aroma, right? it can happen to just about anything, and it sucks that it happened to you. god willing the freezing does it's job and that is the end of it for you.

Where do you live? Dont turn the a ac off. Turn it up but keep the house cool. Ours goes up to 75 or 76.

I think when I told my wife this a while back, it sealed the deal of her not really trying cigars.

This happens from time to time with any cigar. It just goes with the territory and we all just do our best to keep a watchful eye and keep the temps in check. The only time I have ever froze my cigars is when I know they've been in very hot transit to my mailbox which doesn't happen all that often. I can't even recall the last time I did this but if you don't have a cool place to keep them, freezing them is the best way to combat the issue.

Guess ill keep my wineador shelves......I keep the house cool, not so much when I'm gone, which is more often than not. All is well......and yes with some negotiation she will maintain an send out cigars and bombs at my discretion!

The freezing is to prevent any larva from hatching in the future. Freezing them kills any eggs if I understand correctly. Hopefully all the Beatles went in the trash with any cigars that had holes in them or you killed yourself.
