Question About Pigtail Cigars?

I was watching a review of a cigar with a pigtail and the reviewer used a cutter to remove the cap & pigtail. A response to the video suggested pigtails do not need to be cut simply pull the pigtail. Can someone please school this newbie on the proper way to pull a pigtail without damaging the wrapper?

In truth, I have never had a problem to where the wrapper was so badly damaged that it became un-smoke-able. But being anal retentive, I just clip the damn things now-a-days any-hoo...

I don't know what is correct, but I use a cutter and just nip the piggy tail off.

I just pull'em! Then cut if the draw isn't right..

The pigtail is meant to be broken off so there is no need of a cutter. However, nowadays, they're there for ascetics. You could break it off and risk damaging the wrapper or you could use a cutter and have less of a chance of damaging the wrapper.

Like Adam said, it is true you can just pull the pigtail off, but I have never had much luck doing that so I use my cutter

With little guys like Papas Fritas, just grab the tail and pull it off. If you want a more open draw, cut it. Like Reese's, there is no wrong way.

I've found a slight twist does the job and havent damaged one yet

I found the twist method does work, but tends to build up a bit of tar over the course of the cigar so I usually do a standard clip on a pigtailed cigar.

I knew that was why they were originally made like that. Just didn't know people still did it. Just straight cut and make a nice little hat for a LEGO man.

I just smoked my first Papas Fritas. I moistened the cap, and pulled the pigtail off with my teeth. Perfect drsw, with no unravelling of the wrapper.
