Alright kids,

What say ye, about this scenario?

Winedor, 50% to 75% full of sticks. HF Beads. The temps in my house have never given me problems. They have never exceeded 70* in the humi, so I've always left it alone. Until recently.....

I noticed that I hit 72* in the winedor the other day, and well... the ETC should be here tomorrow. In the meantime, I have plugged in the winedor, and kicked the temp down to 65* for about 5 minutes. I noticed when I do, the RH drops a few points. And by a few points, I mean like 5 points (60%). It doesn't really go below that, but its enough to make me wonder whats going on.

Like I said, I only turn the thing on for 5 minutes at a time. And I really only do that in the evening a few times. Each time I do, the RH drops. When I turn it off, it slowly climbs back up to 65%.

My question is, when the ETC comes in, should I kick up the RH to 65% when its running? Or should I find a happy medium? Or should I shut up and just move on with life?

Thanks in advance!

I notice with mine that when the cooling module runs almost continuously because ambient is temp is above 73, the RH will drop. It's a function of science really, because your pumping cool air in, the humidity will drop. Because it will take a decent amount of time to cool from 70 to 66, it will slowly drop your RH.
I find that when I can maintain my temp at 66, the RH stays steady at 66 with 2lbs of 70RH HF beads.
Your ETC will work what you want it for, as long as your dead band is only 1-2 degrees F.
IMO...

when you drop the temp the RELATIVE humidity does not drop, only the indicated humidity.Proof of this is that your unit then returns to 65%.
RELATIVE humidity for cigars is based on a scale using 70 degrees as a mid point and 70% as an indicated. If you increase temp to 75 degrees as a mid point, you drop the indicated to 65%.This is why the term relative is used.
The RH system has been around for a long time,I had a chart for it a few years ago.It works above 60 degrees, because below 60 degrees the air cannot hold enough moisture to maintain RH.

So the actual humidity is dropping, and I used the term RH incorrectly? Good to know.

Yes, your actual humidity will drop, but the relative humidity should regain its preset level after it homeostasis is achieved again and the hygro catches up.

Everyone, Thanks for the input. Just unboxed the ETC, and will wire it up after dinner.

I think I'll need to add more water to it to hit it up, but I'll leave it alone for a while, and see if it plains out.

Thanks again all for the help!
